Out of curiosity in US cause i've never actually been there but is the US price exclusive of additional taxes whereas the UK price includes VAT. I know when i was in Canada i had to pay 2 different additional taxes or costs on most things i bought altho i was able to reclaim one of them when i got home. Just a thought I've seen the WD800 now at £1299 down from original retail price of circa £1599 i think. Dave

Go on you know ya wanna. I've listened to all the reviews and it does definitely have a warmer tone than the D800 range altho not much in it to be fair. I like the idea of the pre-amp tube tho. What are you gigging with at the moment Steve ? Dave

Anyone tried one of the WD800 amps yet. Better still anyone done a comparison against the D800+.

I'm actually wondering about that too. I generally just want to hear my bass on stage and if thru PA its DI'd anyway so its really just a basic monitor for me.. Only thing is i've tried smaller combos and they just don't cut it on stage for me. My Mesa head and 212 cab seem to fil the stage more same at rehearsals when i take it. The studio Ampeg 810 and Aguilar SC500 amps never seem to cut thru the mix the same way or fill the room. Might look at the Mesa Subway lightweight gear now that i've tried Mesa i'm a convert. Expensive tho but that new WD800 amp looks and sounds the biz on youtube anyway. Dave

I remember going round the hi-fi shops in 70;s doing just that. Could never afford the top of the range kit tho. Mate had a Linn deck with Tannoy cabs. Can't remember what amp he had but he had the installation contract for Tannoy and owned a record / CD shop back then plus his wife at that time was a Sales Manager in Tower records. Some sound but he did have a big detached house to enjoy with a huge bass sub cab. He had a dedicated room for his albums and hi-fi gear. I still have my old Sony deck from 76 and NAD amp using Bose and Mission speakers and it still works a treat. Dave

Debut gig with Blockbustarz last night at Ivory Blacks in Glasgow. Fantastic night of 70's Glam Rock music. Very warm night and a great crowd all having a great time dancing to some classic Glam music.

Aha but Lemmy's mole is on his left cheek and you can't see it in this pic. He was jamming in a local boozer with someone else's bass that day

Sold a few and bought one recently so i'm down to 7 with my Dingwall NG2 up for sale at the moment. I might look at a Limelight P bass when i sell the NG2. Dave

oddly enough its the vocals that overload my ears when too loud. Guitar, bass or drums even keys i never have a prob with but certain male vocals in certain songs i just start to feel uncomfortable. Not the actual singing of course just the frequencies. Dave

Of your P basses do you have a fav ?

Don't know the exact theoretical answer but for me you feel 15"'s more than 10's so perhaps you just felt as tho they were louder. Just a thought Dave

Until a new band gels by playing several gigs they need to remain focused on their playing. Once a few gigs under their belt they should be able to relax a bit and just enjoy the show. You can rehearse as much as you like in the hope things will always be perfect but its live gigs that really tighten up a band. IMHE. Dave
