3. Yeh they work fine, does what it says on the tin n means u never have 2 worry about double ball end strings if u can't find em, although these days the net is the best place to get DBs. Worthwhile investment 4 sure.
4. BTW, I'm a righty who naturally picked up the guitar lefty as a kid for the exact reason that my stronger, most dexterous hand was more capable of forming chord shapes & faster, more accurate arpeggios. The "simpler" task of plucking was the domain of my more subtle, finer hand; my left although I'm one of those rare rightys that actually has some inbuilt left-handed & sided abilities so I'm about 70/30 righty/lefty in those stakes. As I see it, the piano is the same in that the left hand keeps rhythm & the right picks out the melody/chords. My 2c but I'm a proud lefty player!
5. LeftyJ, not Fender, much better & more expensive but here you go! 6. Thnx v much 4 that, I'll give em a call. Cheers!
7. Hi all, checked both company's websites & did a yahoo/google search & came up empty so hoping someone on here may know or have heard. Living in Japan but looking to go home to Aus & have 2 combos, a Nemesis 210 & a Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110 I'd like to take back with me to keep or sell but use either way & can't find anything on having these changed from 110 to 240v. Any hints, leads or info appreciated. Cheers!
8. Never mind the 'Berger, how's the 'tache? Very early Steinberger for sure! Glad he discontinued that model!
9. Put it up on a stand, milk crate or chair; no cost to you, much less boom, easier to hear for you & better "line of sight" for the punters as it will be close to their ear level. Start with eq flat n add judiciously. Always worked for me!
10. Don't see or hear a problem with lighter gauges. I run low action with lighter strings so you have to use a light touch. The benefits of all this is that you don't fight the bass so much... don't tire, don't stress. and I am pretty sure being kinder to the hands will pay dividends longer in your playing life....with regards to hand problems etc etc +10000
11. Here here, get the lightest cab n head 2 fit ur needs so I'd say a GKMB200 or 500 with a 12" Barefaced cab, total 30lbs or a GK210 combo or Genz Benz 3.0t combo & extension 10" cab, 33lbs. Any lighter n u'll b playing thru the PA. Apart from levitaton, that's it currently as far as I know
12. Any Warwick 5 standard is 16.5, except the broad neck option ones.
13. Hey solo, from my research you should be getting the full 300 w into the 1x10 speaker but that's a lot of oomph for a 10 so it'll probably fart out sooner than later but it should be able to handle your aco gigs with ease. I bet the prob is in the double 8 ohm wires shorting out somewhere, so try to hook up any other 8 ohm cab to check how the volume is as when you connect the speaker cable it effectively shorts one of the 8 ohm wires, leaving the internal speaker at 8 instead of 4 to enable the extra cab. If the volume or body doesn't get bigger, I'd say that's the prob area. Never trust Chinese soldering QC, I saw so many MIC bass heads & combos returned for faults when I worked in a big guitar store & the tech said as the bottom end vibration would rattle the shoddy solder points free, especially with the greater intensity involved with a sealed head combo like the 3110, unlike the Genz Benz design(US made anyway), the heads would fail due to 2c worth of solder; I'm staring you straight in your monocled eye, Behringer!! Hope this helps you with a solution.
14. The GKs have an internal jump switch which can be changed by any experienced tech in a few minutes. Some stores on eBay offer this service for GK heads for free or $10-20 so I'd get it done in store if I were you & I actually did that with an MB200 & it's been fine. Search Gallien Krueger on eBay & you will see the stores that offer it if you read through their description. Good luck!
15.
hi stoko i got a few basses for sale a westone active a ibenez active a aria 5 string magna series all going cheap from 150 -170 hope i can help you cheers mate
Could you post a few pics of those basses pls? Would you post abroad? Thnx
16. Thanks for your innovations blablas, your basses are all mega eye candy for us starving lefties. Keep up the great work!
17. Yeh, I had one that I used with an 11 piece covers band & when I had it elevated it could keep up with a loud drummer but it could get a bit distorted if pushed into it, which wasn't my thing but may be yours as a metal player. Great amps & cabs IMO & I still use the 410 4 ohm cab cab I bought 10 yrs ago, never had a prob after 5-600 gigs.
18. Hi gents, if this is covered in another thread pls direct me but if not, I'd like to stain my natural finish Warwick Rockbass Corvette fretless in a black stain but as a 1st time amateur I'd be thankful for any advice re sanding/cutting back the original finish, applying new stain & finish coatings. I dont want to pay a pro to do it, its my own little project. Your help is greatly appreciated.
19. Assuming you're a fellow lefty Stu, are they still doing fretless & fretted lefty 5s? Recently only seen 4s or 6s. Thnx
20. Unless the warranty is a 3/4/5 year one, a 1 year warranty is basically useless anyway. I've never had any electrical item blow in the first year, just a few weeks after expiration of said warranty. Take your chances I say & to hell with huge duty/customs/vat payments if your willing.
21. One question: wouldn't lighter strings alleviate neck stress as there would be less tension needed to get the string tauter & in tune?
22. My '02 MM Sterling 4 has an unfinished one piece birds eye maple neck & fretboard which is susceptible to slight tuning ups & downs when going from the house to car to venue, no air con v air con, which manifests in slight bowing at times. An easy fix at the truss rod for me but nonetheless noticeable. A rosewood board or a 2 piece maple neck/board would add a layer of laminate & improve stability I'd guess.
23. Thanks for the replies gents. I should have said user switchable or externally switchable in the original post. Of course quite a few allow voltage conversion internally is a workshop but still, if Genz, Eden, PJB & others allow for the 100-240 v option so simply, is that reflected in substantially higher prices? As flyfisher said re global markets, wouldn't it make sense, especially considering 240v Europe's 400 million people, 220v SE Asia's 300 million, 240v ANZ's 30 million & this dwarfs the NAmerican 330 million, so a very viable market for US companies I'd say. Point taken re user switchable ohmages for valve amps, cabs & SS heads but I'm still on the voltage switching soapbox; it just makes for better efficiency & economics as I see it. It was a deal maker for me to buy a GB combo & a GK head as well so it paid off for those companies & I'm sure I'm not the only one. YMMV.
24. Apologies if this has been answered but I did a search & didn't find anything so here goes my 2 cents. Q1. Can anyone explain why 99% of makers WON'T allow amps to be 100/120/220/240 volt switchable? Genz Benz auto detects & Eden has a switch & a few other makers do allow it but most don't: WHY? :eyebrow: Q2. The same question about changeable impedance or ohmage, as on the Fender Bassman, Orange & even Epifani speaker cabs allow it, so why don't most makers?? Would this not cut down on the expense of having to produce different circuits etc?? Does tubes V solid state make a difference in this? Please educate me! I also posted this question on TB but as it is largely American, I figured most wouldn't really concern themselves with or even be aware of these issues as much as UK, EU, AU, NZ, SA & others outside North America. Cheers.
25. I'm a lefty living in Japan n have played one, nice basses. B4 u buy, check out some of the Japanese guitar shop sites, like Taniguchi, a lefty specialist, IshibashiGuitars n Ikebe Guitars, u might get a cheaper deal. Also, leftybassist.com is a great site 4 us cackies n I've posted on there how 2 navigate the Japanese sites without English so check it out. Of course, this site has a wealth of lefty stuff that's not available in the US so keep active on both for the best info. Good luck!
