1. I cannot think of a single legitimate use for the case candy packs so, IMO the seller is providing nothing more than the means to enable a con in exactly the same way that others sell Fender decals to those who 'accidentally took mine off in an industrial sanding accident' or 'want to put a Fender logo on my cheapo bass for fun and I'll definately take it off if I decide to sell it...' .

 3.
Right well the fuse that blew in the amp the first time was a 250v 6A it says on back of the amp it takes F6AL/250V the fuse i got from maplins are 250v 6.3A would that make any differance.
Nope. Those fuses will be fine.
The only other thing i forgot to say was the one of the output jacks for the speaker cable is louse. although its been like that for a week now and i used it twice like it.
That sounds like a very good place for your repair guy to start looking - could be that the socket is shorting out on something it shouldn't be able to touch under normal conditions...
 4.
How hard is it to gets part for hartkes atm. The repair man said it may be hard to get parts. Is there anywhere u can get a wiring diagram
The parts are pretty generic but if you want to be totally sure then you need to order from the Hartke importers: Korg (UK) Ltd 01908 304670 (Opening Hours 10am - 3pm, Mon - Fri) Email: "][email protected] Not sure how difficult it is to get a circuit diagram, but, as it's a discontinued model, I guess the Korg service guys will be able to supply one of those as well.
 5. I go to quite a few of these each month and help run one not far from where I live. Find a potential venue and avoid paying for use of their premises - their payoff will be in increased beer sales. Working mens clubs are fab for this sort of thing - they generally have a spare room, cheap beer and a desire to get people in the door midweek. It's far easier to work with other PnP venues than it is to compete with them - go see the others, introduce yourself and get to know them. Make sure you pick an alternative night to theirs - a different week would be good. Tell your people about the other clubs and those clubs will reciprocate that gesture. Divide the evening up into 'slots' of three songs to prevent any one performer from dominating the night. A sheet with 15 minute slots is about right (allowing for changeovers and the inevitable tuning disasters). If you don't have enough 'acts' to fill the evening then you can always go round again or bump the slots up to four songs. Have a few 'house musicians' on hand to back up beginners if they feel lonely on stage. A 'compere' to open the proceedings, introduce the acts and say goodnight is always good. Some background music playing before the show starts is always a nice touch. Don't forget you're likely to end up with a mixture of performers and spectators, take time out to make sure the spectators are enjoying themselves. Make sure that the 'compere' and the house musicians are friendly and personable enough to go chat with the beginners and offer encouragement and support - everyone was a beginner once. I guess the last thing is to remember that it will take quite a while for the word to get round that you're running a plug and play so don't feel downhearted if you don't end up with a large turnout for a few months.

 9. Well if it's an HA5500 I don't really think you've done too much damage. The HA5500 is a ss amp with a valve pre-amp, so no real damage if run without a load. It has a protection circuit built in (that delay followed by a 'click' a few seconds after switching on before the amp fires up) which 'should' have protected the amp from major mishap. I'm guessing here, but did you replace the fuse with the right type? Take a look at the fuse you took out first time round - if it says 'T6.3A' then you need to use a T6.3A fuse - not an F6.3A. If you try using an F6.3A as a replacement for a T6.3A then it'll blow as soon as you power it up.
 10. Interesting copy. I wonder if they made it 'blind' and didn't have an original to work from? Perhaps that's how they added a 5 pin DIN socket as an output - they were all the rage in the west back then.

 16. I had a play with one of these early last year and really had to force myself to put it down as it wasn't what I went shopping for. Superbly built and everything laid out neatly - particularly liked the angled jack socket arrangement that they used to strike a balance between front and side mounted. And that neck...
 17. If you're changing pots then the only difference you're going to get is a possible change in the way the controls work (i.e. the pots need more or less of a turn to achieve the same thing you got previously). Changing the cap may (or may not) make an audible difference to the low frequencies if you use a different value to the original, but there's a limit to the amount of difference you're going to get - you're only working on the low frequencies after all. If you want to make a noticeable and tangible difference* to the way the bass sounds then you're looking at adding a pre-amp. *My definition of a 'noticeable and tangible difference' is something you can actually hear rather than have to measure on a piece of lab test gear to prove it's happened.
 18.
Best tell the drum manufacturers their terminology is incorrect then
I've heard them called 'bass drums' for a lot longer than I've heard them called 'kick drums'. Pearl, Premier, Yamaha and Tama all describe them as bass drums. I suspect that 'kick drum' was instigated by a non-musician who had no understanding of how 'that particular drum' makes a noise and 'pedal drum' might have been far more appropriate.

 20. I've never really been into effects. I use a chorus set to a really minimal level just to fatten the sound out a little - take it away and people know 'something' has gone but can't quite put their finger on what that 'something' was. IMO effects are very genre specific which is a reason I rarely find a need to go down that path. I've no problem with people using effects in general, but I do think that they'd sound far better if used a little more subtlety sometimes - after all, you're there to astound people with your musical ability, not demo your latest metal box.
 21. The house will be treated as a potential crime scene until the postmortem is completed if the cause of death was sudden and unexpected. How long it's going to take really depends on what the pathologist finds.

 23.
just wishful thinking it may have been the pot,its my Yamaha bb2005,and i have tried a new battery,so need to get it looked at.
The lowest grade component in all pre-amps that use 9V battery clips - is the battery clip. Before you pay to have it looked at, take a careful look at it and make sure that the wires going into the little snap on connector haven't fallen off - give the red and black wires a gentle tug and make sure they stay put. Follow those cables back to the points they are connected to (one to the jack socket and one to the preamp PCB usually) and make sure they're connected properly. If the fault isn't there then it's going to need more in depth diagnosis, but you might strike lucky...
