The only issue I found with the build quality was a small sharp area on the bottom of the nut that had a tendency to scratch my hand. Two rubs with a file sorted that out.

I own a B206. They're a well built and specced bass for the money, but they are a little bit on the weighty side.

Taking all strings off and keeping sound post in place
icastle replied to ikay's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I use strips of carefully placed masking tape to mark the edges of where they sit. When you're done, just realign the sound post to the tape. -
Looking at the circuit diagram, the most likely culprit is IC1, the passive components should have survived. The 4580 ICs are only pennies, so well worth a punt. http://uk.farnell.com/texas-instruments/rc4580ip/ic-audio-amp-pdip-8/dp/1755008 HTH

It might be an expensive repair but it might not be - diagnosing something you can't see is never very accurate. It'd be best to get someone to look at it before writing it off.

If the fuse you took out was a T2A then replacing it with the same type is the correct first move. If that fuse blows then don't be tempted to replace it with a bigger one - all you'll achieve is a bigger repair bill. From your description, my first suspicion would be a faulty mains transformer.

It could just be that people are selling 5ers on to finance another one.
Top responses, folks! Thanks. Of course I agree that I need to keep going till I 'nail' stuff. Sometimes that seems a bit far off. I don't suspect foul play. It's more likely that the choices are indifferent to the demands on the bass player! The latest is 'stricken' by disturbed.
I had to go find it on YouTube as I'd never heard of it. As far as bass lines go, it's pretty much buried behind everything else. I reckon you could cut it down, lock in with the drummer, and get away with it. The track also highlights something else, the guitar is doing only a fraction of the work - which is possibly why it sounds 'easy' to the guitarist, they're judging the difficulty of their part and nobody elses.

another trolley post/question which is best

Solid rubber wheels are fine if you're moving on a flat surface, but the inflatable wheels are fine for flat and uneven surfaces, like bumping up or down stairs and kerbs. -
Sounds to me like you've inadvertently found the ideal band. It's very easy to just 'plod along' doing what you can already do, but it's so much more valuable to be stretched. You learn more that way.

Gigging after surgery - am I being over optimistic?
icastle replied to FinnDave's topic in General Discussion
...then it is too late to call in a dep.
True, but it's not too late to move your position so that it doesn't hurt. -
The days of just going into any pub and walking out with a gig half an hour later are gone. Pubs are there to make a profit and the recent pub closures have essentially 'weeded out' landlords that weren't able to maintain, or diversify to attract, a decent profit margin. The landlords/landladies who are left are far more business orientated and it's up to us to persuade them that they're going to make a profit if we want to play there.
I underwent a 5 hour abdominal op last Thursday, came home Saturday evening and have gigs booked Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Do I think you're mad? Yes Would I do it? Of course I bl**dy would. Don't be tempted to increase your painkillers for the night though - if your body is shouting 'STOP!', you don't want to be masking that message. Leave the lugging to the others, keep bending down to the minimum and make sure you don't trip over anything. -
This'll probably sound like overkill but I presume you've confirmed the members posts came from different IP addresses which originated from the right countries?
Pretty much the first thing I did.

It was just the specific wording used. Andy spotted two ads from two different members with exactly the same wording: "Could you get a price on shipping to Ireland please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks" "Could you get a price on shipping to Germany please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks" It's definitely two different members so we reckon it was just a copy and paste of that request to make sure nothing got lost in translation.
I think the key phrase here might be, "publicly advertised".
Yep. There's a lot of 'word of mouth' and, if you've got those connections, there's little point in advertising. I've had a pretty constant 35 years and never looked at an ad.

By the time I've run around like an idiot connecting things, moving things and lugging things I don't need a warm up, I need a lay down.
WTF does that mean????
If you don't understand, it sounds like they've got a problem. So that's good.
I think icastle was talking about making up a lead with a socket on the end to plug your adapter into with a lead them coming from the socket that would then go into your power conditioner. Equally, it'd work but it is a bit cumbersome and a big more weighty.
It was, but your way is certainly neater and tidier.
To be honest I'm not sure how we arrived at the point for him to unleash that particular beauty... I wasn't really paying attention as I was looking at BC on my phone

Someone in a meeting a couple of weeks back in reference to trying out a new idea said "lets run it up the flag pole and see how it flies"... nob...
Did you do 'rainbow thinking' to get there? One day the tune I'm humming in my head whenever I hear that phrase is going to come out loud.

Wouldn't you use 110% to describe an increase in something?
