1. a short report from my band practice on tuesday, the midget really cuts through, i had been struggling with the in-house ashdown 4x10 and while the midget wasn't that much louder it was so much easier to hear myself, i got comments from the others, the best one being that the guitarist could finally hear me properly! (something he'd been complaining about for about a year) i can't wait to play a proper gig now (with the full double midget stack) Matt
2.
I'd be very interested to hear what your impressions were! We need a Barefaced Waiting Room Support Group
i'll post some thoughts after tonights practice, a support group would have been good, i think that we need to make sure that we get our barefaced cabs to plenty of bass bashes and let the world know how fantastic they are, so far Basschat seems to have turned a tiny one man in his garage operation into a 3 man company with premesis and a full order book, we have the power to boost employment in brighton and re-energise the economy just by buying more cabs! (this might not be true but we can dream can't we?) i'm hoping that some of the other projects that Alex is thinking of come to fruition, the idea of some new hifi speakers is very tempting. Matt
3. actually i should point out that the waiting time for my cabs did include Christmas, new year and the birth of Alex's son so was not typical. the cabs are built to order and they're making them as fast as they can. the hardest thing for me was the update pictures that were occasionally posted on facebook, scanning the row of cabs looking for a pair that matched what i had ordered, the joy when i got a note saying that mine were in the photo and would be with me by the end of the week was immense! Matt
4. i waited an agonising 4 and a half months for my midgets, it was painful but as soon as they arrived all the pain and agony was forgotton, these are fantastic cabs and definately worth the wait. i get to try them properly at a band practice tonight, i've packed spare earplugs for my bandmates! (and i'm only going to take one cab along) Matt
5. weirdly this kind of appeals to me, i'd probably bolt it to an old cymbal stand i've got lying around and then use it for acoustic gigs, it could do with a bit of re-shaping on the body to smooth it off though, and it would need some kind of control system for pickup blend and tone. luckily it's too expensive for what it is but if it gets relisted at a lower price i might be tempted. it's a Yamaha neck so at least that would be a good starting point for a fretless project. Matt
6. Bought! just wonderful, i bought the last EP a while ago having found it through your Signature, got a very nice Email from Kit and a personalised message on the CD sleeve. this one sounds even better! Please come up to Newcastle and play a gig, i promise to bring all my friends along! Matt
7. EBay should have a few sellers or these guys might be able to help http://www.allparts.uk.com/online-shop/amp-parts/coverings-grill-cloth/grill-cloth-c-277_297_446_548.html Matt
8. i'm not surprised that you've reached rig nirvana! i'm only still gassing as i've not really tried many heads out, i bought the headlite as it was cheapish and i wanted somethging lighter than my superfly, i'm going to try my midgets with as many heads as i can, i might realise that the Headlite is my perfect amp or i might find i want something else, it's going to be lots of fun finding out! (the th500 is very high on the list of heads i want to try) Mat
9. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/205819-vintage-icon-mrjp-jaco-pastorius-fretless-l150/ no connection to the seller but this is a great price for a fantastic bass
10. I'd go for trading it for a fretless if that's what you want, especially if you could get one of the cheaper Yamaha bb fretless basses. Failing that what about stringing it differently, B-D maybe or with nylon flats for a different tone. Matt
11. I've not had a huge amount of time to play with this but I'm playing in church in the morning and it'll get a good run out then. Matt
12.
My other midget arrived today too! I now have the same stack as you (but with black grills) and an Aguilar TH500 Currently running the sine wave through it to break it in, sounds like a helicopter overhead!
yeah I've got the sine wave running as well, it's quite a disconcerting sound, makes me feel quite uneasy! I'd love to hear what the Aggie head sounds like through this rig, it's been on my GAS list for a while now. Matt
13. Well I've been waiting impatiently for a while now and they've finally arrived and i couldn't be any happier. thought i'd do a short unboxing photo stream to show them off, well if people start web pages to show the unboxing of an iphone then these cabs deserve a thread. this is what was torturing me for 2 hours at work this afternoon. this is what greets you when you carefully break the seal on the top of the box one cab unpacked and a quick view of the back and the quality control tag the pair waiting for a head and the full rig. to say that I'm happy is an understatement! Matt
14.
taxi driver, technical director (guitars, amps, PA and recording kit), and tea boy (we're so rock and roll that we start each rehersal with mugs of tea and biscuits)

the singer/guitarist covers the rest, our drummer is notoriously disorganised although he did a top job of being my best man!

Matt
15.
Oo - Er! Where can you get these facially unadorned small persons from, and isnt it politically correct to call them "vertically challenged people"?
i have had to be very careful about facebook postings! i've got a fedex tracking number now, expecting delivery first thing tomorrow! Matt
16. i was once offered a mex precision with Stings signature on the scratchplate, trouble was that no-one had peeled the protective plastic off before it was signed and the signature was wearing off quite badly! i offered him about 250 quid for the bass (without the scratchplate) as it played like a dog and needed some serious setting up and some new strings, the owner declined my offer and put it on gumtree for £1000 and as far as i know he still has it (about 4 years later!) Matt
17. that's a great looking rig! i'm hoping i can post a similar picture very soon with my Precision sitting next to a pair of Barefaced Midgets, i've been told that they're ready, the anticipation is killing me! Matt
18. bought a pair of guitar Pickups from Ted, couldn't have been smoother! great communication and fast postage. trade with confidence! Matt
19. Depending on timings i might travel down from the north east, i've got a bass being built by Jon Letts that i'm going to have to travel down to collect, so if my Barefaced Midgets turn up in time i might bring them along. i'd be happy to bring any north east based Bass chatters with me if theyt have cabs that you'd like to try (there were some bergs and aggies at the northeast bass bash recently) Matt
20.
I'll take them if the sale doesn't go through for whatever reason (or the buyer doesn't get on with them).
i've just paid for them, they're for my friends guitar but if he doesn't get on with them i'll let you know and pass them on. Matt
21. website doesn't give dimensions for the mean 90's but the dream 90's are the right size so i'll take them, i'll PM to arrange payment and a delivery address. Matt
22. what string spacing are these? if they're 52mm (fender spacing) then i'll take them! matt
23. +1 on a Yamaha, I've got an rbx765 which I paid 120 quid for, cracking bass, the rbx775 is just as nice and comes in slightly more metal colours. Matt
24. I had a mk1 focus till a few days ago, I loved it, swapped it for a mk3 mondeo which isn't quite as much fun but It's wide enough to get 2 hiscox bass cases across the boot along with my rig and pedalboard and a week's food shopping and still get 5 people in the cabin. Might get a mk2 focus estate next year though. Matt
25. I'm going to recommend Jon Letts again, probably with a shorter scale (31" ish?) a single pickup passive bass is within your budget and he can build it to suit your needs. they really are the lightest basses i've come across. if you're lucky he might offer another set of basses at cost price (i believe the 4 string one was 400 quid on the last offer!) here's a link to the deluxe 4 string that he's got up for sale now, bear in mind that this one has added gold bling and a 3 band aggie preamp, so if you went for a more subdued spec it would be cheaper. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176511-lettsbasses/page__view__findpost__p__1923339 matt
