I was watching glam rock at the BBC the other night, and I couldn’t help noticing just how bad the miming on Top Of The Pops was, most bands never even tried to make it look like anything other than blatent miming, just look at the bass player in this clip of Chicory Tip, his right hand is moving as if he is playing rhythm, and his left hand just doesn’t move at all. Don’t know why I’m posting this, I guess I just needed to mention it I suppose.

Tell her that you are also working from home, because if you play for a living, either part-time or full-time, then practising is part of your job, even if it's just a hobby, you are still entitled to practise.

Ok, I thought maybe it was my browser or something. I actually prefer it this way, like you say, it's cleaner and it cuts down on the amount of pages due to numerous bumping.

Not sure if this has been raised by anyone else, but when I click on a "Bass for sale" item on the first page, where it says the latest post was for example 30 minutes ago, the page actually shows that the latest post was something like a week ago and yet the item is on the first page, is it just me who's having this problem, or are others experiencing this as well? I can take screenshots to show what's happening if necessary.

Open A for me on Whole Lotta Rosie, much easier than going from the fretted 5th fret on the E string and back like a lot of players do

Thought it was just me who is finding the wider layout difficult, it's like watching a tennis match because I'm constantly turning my head left and right to read the posts, lol And the quotes all over the page are driving me mad as its making it hard to make any sense of the posts. The only reason I've logged on today is to see if others are experiencing the same problems, it's taken ages to get past all the "fatal error" messages to get this far. Please don't think I am having a moan, I really do appreciate all the hard work that goes into running this forum, but I think its important to point out any problems we are experiencing our end so they can be fixed. Below are a couple of screenshots of what I am seeing:

All the members in my band have more or less the same musical tastes, so generally speaking, we like all the songs we play, but after playing these songs over and over again, I find that I actually go off them and hardly ever listen to them again.

Thankfully there's normally a pub I can escape to [/quote]I usually get to the venue first to set my rig up, then sit and have a pint while I wait for the drummer to set up. But whats even more annoying than our drummer taking ages to set up, he is always late, the last gig we arranged to be there and set up at 7.30pm for a 9.15pm start, he turned up 8.25pm which left us very little time to do a sound check.

For me, apart from the hanging around, I generally didn't like the type of songs we had to play at weddings/functions, admittedly, we played them quite well, especially as our keyboard player was exceptionally good, we could knock out Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down" or any other songs with quite large arrangements, and they would always be well received, but deep down, I love the rockier side of music which is why I left the band. I'm happier now playing in a rock band for just £50 a man, and I'm sure the bass player who replaced me in the function band is happy spending more time at gigs to earn maybe £250 a man. It's definitely horses for courses, methinks.
