Headlined the German beer festival and fireworks event at Alexandra Palace with the Joel Coombes’ Elton John tribute on Friday.

Almost certainly the biggest audience I’ve played to, and a really lovely party vibe there. View from the stage was magic watching a few thousand people dancing and singing along. What a tremendous night out.

Much smaller gig tonight at Leicester’s Musician pub - a fundraiser in aid of a well respected local musician and soundman. Should be a good night too though.

It all sounded like a lot of fun from Tottenham* :)

  2. Radio One, from before I was born until about the age of 13, was on almost all the time at home, so I know where you're at @ambient !

Nothing cool, no exposure to an extensive parental record collection, no cool uncles. Just wall-to-wall top 40 pop.

Has it affected my playing ? Not sure, but almost every song I write weighs in at under 3 mins :)

I always keep one slotted in the gap between the body and my bridge pickup (your bass may vary) I use 1mm picks typically, which I believe is not your bag but try it. It feel it's like a sidearm. Always in perfect reach when needed

Same style here, except without the weapon analogy ;) :)

@pete.young @Bassybert @ahpook thanks for all the offers, they really are appreciated, but I've just ordered from ebay.

I can get a pack of ten of each (the other two are the same rating 10uF 25v) for little more than a stamp would cost.

Thanks for everyone's input and hopefully it'll be back up and running soon.

Great stuff ! Do keep us updated on the repair.

And welcome to Capacitor Club :)

If you don't like them don't go and watch them.

They give people a lot of pleasure. I guess it's nostalgia.

I agree, it's the whole show as well, the whole bundle....

I was watching a few fairly recent Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry live videos recently, and yes...Mr. Ferry's voice ain't what it was, but it was a great show. People want to see him, so more power to him. Everyone seemed to be having a blast. All good.

Now, I'd not go and see him, but saying nobody else should is a bit like saying, I dunno, I don't like dog shows, so they shouldn't hold them.

Regard it as a consumable item. If you can pull the socket out sufficiently to get to the terminals, you'll find it a whole lot easier than trying to solder inside the body - if not then consider extending the wires a little bit so you can.

Agreed - when you buy a replacement barrel socket, get a few if you can. They are indeed best viewed as consumables.

Respect the work. Interesting to see how different the profile of the American necks are compared to the Mexicans. It’s like the Americans have a beer belly 😂

Hey, Slayer told you this....it really should be no surprise

Look at my post again, and see when it was edited last compared to when your post was posted and edited.

Though I guess The New Yorker hardly is the language of the soul or the most advanced form of communication we humans are capable of either, or any of the other examples for the matter.

I guess the former examples can be argued, but I'd still argue that of all art forms music is the one that lives up to this description the most, and neuroscience seems to support this, as it is one activity, both intensive listening and playing, together with deep meditation, that activates most of our brain simultaneously.

You missed my point, but I can't be bothered.

I'm sure it stands as a suitable opposite to 'Take A Break !'

I'm glad you don't find issue with my fourth example though - you're obviously a man of some taste ;)

It's not an urge, not anymore than staying alive is an urge, it's the language of the soul, the most advanced form of communication we humans are capable of, and it's tragic and sad to see it reduced to merely cheap background entertainment.

Yes, and there's Solzhenitsyn and Dan Brown, Kubrick and Bay, The New Yorker and Take A Break!, Stargate SG-1 and Deep Space Nine, and so on...

It's all art, it's all creative, you just need to know how to look at it.
