I totally agree. On your 40th birthday the music police should come to your house and confiscate all your music equipment and spotify should ban you from listening to any new music from that point on to accelerate your transformation to an old git!

Like in Logan's Run...a musical 'Last Day' :)

    "Carousel...begins....."

Thats a great way to handle FB, an even better way would be a bot to do everything for you. That bot responds to other bots and you do nothing at all. The only issue is of the bots suddenly become sentient and you've created SkyNet, but I'm fairly sure that won't happen.

As long as you're fairly sure :)

  3. If it's a picking speed thing, then slowing the song down and going over it again and again and again is the only thing that's really worked for me.

You need to train those muscles - stick with your usual plectrum and just keep at it.

    Sorry, boring answer.

  4. OK, I loaded a load of fairly nonsensical keywords and prompts into https://www.song-lyrics-generator.org.uk/

...and with a couple of tweaks came up with what could almost pass as a Pavement song :)

Summer Dental Conference (No Monster Trucks)

"We're all going to a summer dental conference
No more begging for a week or two
Guitars and stack shoes at our summer dental conference
No more monster trucks for me or you
    For a week or two

Summertime, and the givin' is open
Sisters are lying and the are wagers are high
Oh, your king's Belgian and your serf is driving
So hush my parched bozo, don't you cry

    Oh the summer of 2543

I can't wait to do some lying with you
You can't wait to do some lying with me
This just can't be summer love, you'll see
This just can't be summer love

     (Solo)

Summertime, and the givin' is open
Sisters are lying and the are wagers are high
Oh, your king's Belgian and your serf is driving
So hush my parched bozo, don't you cry

    (Spoken Word over breakdown/build-up)
Me and some monster trucks from Southampton
Had a band and we tried real hard.
    Kent quit, Jo went inventing
I should've known we'd never end up emigrating

    Oh the summer of 2543

Summer lying had me a blast, oh yeah
    Summer lying happened so fast,

    Summer dental conference drifting away,
To, uh oh, that summer dental conference
    "

  5. Further to my exploration of AI lyric generators last night, I rather think I'm going to use one to write something.

A lot of the music I like has quite elliptical lyrics, so taking the output of the machine and massaging the words into something a little less direct has been quite rewarding.

Certainly a good way of kicking off the process and getting the cerebral juices oozing away.

Or is probably present but it just doesn't match with the emotions of a bunch of old guys living in the past.

    This.

I think if I grokked the contents of the 'Top40', then pop culture would have broken in a way that would disappoint me terribly.

I stick Radio1 on sometimes... and the feeling of confusion is exquisite :)

And for home practice they are totally silent, no fan noise

    Yes, well-said !

I have an older-model V4B and it's just lovely to have the quiet.

Couldn’t fault the build quality (apart from the JAN2 which you mentioned), it was mainly the ergonomics. The neck was thrown too far left for comfort for my liking. I had a corvette followed by a thumb, decided not to risk take 3 on the fortress as I’d lost more money than enough on the first 2.

I couldn't get on with the Fortress I had for a while either - I found the way it sat on me a bit weird too. I also wasn't enamored with the sound either, but I think that's my taste rather than a problem with the bass.

Beautiful bass, just not right for me.

After feedback on this site, the Warwick just a nut is the issue as it's not been installed by the factory correctly. The just a nut should sit flush with the bottom piece of the nut which it does not. Hard to explain, but there shouldn't be a gap as seen in the photos.

Aaaah, is it missing the baseplate ?

In that case the slot in the neck/headstock for the nut is too deep, cause otherwise, as far as I can see the bottom of the nut slots would go beneath the level of the fretboard.

Yes, most likely, but let's let the OP come back and let us know their thoughts and maybe we can offer some considered advice.

As you can see at it's lowest setting, the Warwick Just a Nut sits very high! Is this correct?

No, the nut should sit neatly in the slot, not have a gap underneath.

What bass are you working on ?
