You need to spend time with them, honestly the AO and b7k are very different! X7 seems like a b7k replacement, but until I try it its hard to tell. Ill likely grab an X.

Glad you popped in I've got enough preamps on my board so I'm interested in the X. Difficult to tell where this will sit/ what tonal signature this will be comparable to. Obviously, the BK and AO are very different, whether this will be different enough again to justify owning all three remains to be seen... My guess is this could be a BK replacement for many. Can't see how it could replace the AO.

Watch your hand move up and down a regular neck, your hand can get pretty angular, depending on your strap position. It is as useful as the string tension for me.

I guess its just personal experience. I play Dingwalls and am used to that scale on a fanned fret instrument. I guess I am interested why builders go to the extra engineering efforts for just a 1.5 inch spread i.e. what benefits are we getting from a top string just 0.5 inches longer than many regular 5s? Like you say, many would say the spread should be more like 36-32, which is a 4 inch spread, so even larger. I am sure it isn't, but to me with these mini fans it does kinda look like multiscale for the sake of multiscale. The Super Jazz and P are Dingwalls efforts at a classic design and they chose that scale length to make it feel like a more traditional bass, as opposed to the long reaches of the AB and Combustion ranges. That's the only reason from what I recall.

You beautiful people!!! NYXL are tasty little strings, my 4 string Dingwall has a set on (Super Long scale, I had to tell your FB rep they would fit 😂😉), my Warwick is Jealous!! Currently loyal to Dunlop Super Brights, but allegiances could change! Gimme a set for my little German Thumb and I will be fully NY'd up. And when they finally have had the life squeezed out of them, I will tie them end to end, make a heart shape from them and make it an Instagram meme to remember!

Mehhh. The fan is too small (like the Ibanez really, why bother doing it at all?), it is far too light for me (my 8lb Dingwall is borderline) and I dunno, I'm just not taken by the overall look. Biggest point of interest to me is the bizarre neck cave, which I presume is being carried over from the guitar. Interested to see how that feels to play.

Well actually, that was the change to the pedal. The B3K now has the tone knob used on the amp amongst other things, which for me is a huge improvement It still very much has its place in the line up , for space and simplicity I have considered swapping out my B7KU for a new B3K as I use the AOU as a master preamp so technically its overkill, although certainly has its uses.

Darkglass released their first comp around 9 years ago or so, its an ongoing development. Certainly not a new or recent area for them! I don't think they are hell bent on trying to conquer the compressor market, Doug just has a real passion for it, hence its constant development. This is his best yet, and undercuts many other high end pedal compressors in cost. Ultimately though, its a compressor, and unless you know how to use on effectively, you shouldn't go near one. The B3K was upgraded this year and has far from been superseded

First impressions are very good. I have basically set it up in FET mode as I had my Cali76 unit, using the knobs and the suite, with the added bonus of setting the HPF to the Hz. It sounds fantastic, and seems to have an extra depth that I don't recognise from the Cali. Not used the BUS mode yet, but the SS mode sounds like the Super Symmetry to my ears, and also reiterates my view on preferring 1176 type action. Ill keep playing!

I have just fitted a set of the new S-Locks to my Dingwall and I'm really impressed! The old design did suffer from loosening and rattling, and these do solve both the issues. I quite like the one piece button/screw, but surely imagine they won't just slot into every bass. I 100% have had to use different sized screws to fit Schaller locks to some basses in the past. But, fitted the Dingwall like a glove. Hex key rather than Philips head much better for me, like the Schaller of old. Lock wheel is bulky compared to the nut of the previous design, but its much more secure without any 'hacks', and the longer thread makes it so much easier to get anything but a rag strap on. The rattle is gone! The only concern (so far unfounded) I have with the design is that, because it is somewhat snugger to the button when fitted and because the button and screw are one piece, whether it is possible the strap button will loosen over time. We'll see. Overall, big improvement to what was already the best locking system available, but we'll see how tight everything is after a gig

@D'Addario UK will the 4 string sets fit a 4 string Dingwall? Understand that they have a max length of 36.25 inches, but that's the exact length of the Dingwall e so wanted to make sure it would definitely fit!
