1. For clarity on my side, I know distance selling regulations means there is legally nothing wrong with doing this. But morally, whole different story for me.
2. So, just to be clear. If an instrument was described as 'Mint condition but headstock missing', and sure enough the bass arrived in perfect condition but with no headstock, you think it is morally right to be able to return the instrument because it has no headstock, without financial penalty to anyone but the seller? If so, I'm speechless.
3. It's a moral issue really, its not nice to take advantage over such fair policies. I read in another thread on here that someone had bought a 'Deko' instrument from Thomann (for those who don't know, these are instruments for display only as they are sold as unplayable) and was going to send it back...because it didn't play well enough for him. How can that be right? Its a great policy, but not one I would ever consider taking advantage of. If I have purchased an instrument, I have made the decision. Unless there instrument fundamentally has something wrong with it, I would never consider returning it. Effects pedals and small items, different kettle of fish really as they are much easier to ship, restock and sell again with no fuss, but instruments must be a pain for them.
4. I am giving a DOD Boneshaker a try instead. Different flavour, but perhaps a flavour more suited to me!
5. Bought it, sent it back. Very dissapointed. Couldn't get a tone out of it I liked. Typical MXR dirt pedal, with the clean and dirt sounding entirely seperate from one another, with the dirt on its own thin on the bottom; for me MXR have just got the idea of bass pedals and blend all wrong. Aside from that, I found the pedal muddy and undefined, with the silicon mode sounding thin and the Led mode too muddled.
6. Check out Alpher Instruments
7.
For the money I'm spending I want something in better condition to begin with. its difficuktt to explain but there is something 'wrong' with the sound of this thing. While it has huge sustain even with been strings just kind of die, which I put down to the neck sure I could get it 'repaired' but what if itnstillt had this dead tone? Im afraid you are wrong it's up to the shop to check the condition of the instrument especially as I am not able to see it and check it over. Fleeced is a bit emotional I grant you. The shop have been excellent in their communication. It's not buyers remorse. Id be happy to keep it if it sounded to and played as it should.. why don't you buy it off me and you can do all the repairs you sound like a real pro.....
I wouldn't spend £1500 on such a bass in the first place I'm just trying to help bud, but like I say if you have already accepted compensation for the neck, if I was the shop I personally would think your are taking the mick by coming back to me with a corroded battery clip and asking for a full refund. Take it to a pro, and if they agree with you that something is fundamentally wrong with the bass, take it straight back.
8. Regarding the neck, has a pro had a look yet? Its remarkable how personal feelings about a bass can influence everything about it. You have it in your head you have a 'dud' and you have been 'fleeced' and the bass sounds bad to you because your decision has already been made. You may find a pro or even another fretless player may find it is just fine. Before you cleaned it and saw the neck condition, how did you feel about it then?
9.
i just don;t want it it sounds dead to me, its old and not been at all looked after and I was fleeced... It hasn't put me off Warwick's, just don't want to have to resurrect one, not for the money I've laid out on it. If neck can;t be restored i've bought a total dud.... no thanks
I think the lesson here is always view a pre-owned bass before you buy! I know where you bought this from and the owner is certainly not out to 'fleece' anyone, I have an awful lot of respect for him. At the end of the day, it is a 25 year old bass, the neck's condition is fairly 'usual' for a Warwick of that period (I haven't owned one that hasn't had imperfection from the handmade era, and Iv had a dozen or so). I had an SSII where they put the 1st fret inlay in completely the wrong place, so seemed to fill with wenge dust and refit. Not a neat job but i just put it down as a quirk of the instruments. A battery connecter replacement as John said is pennies. But, if you feel you have been misold, then take it back. However, if you have already taken £100 compensation for the neck, it is difficult to go back again now! Buyers remorse is not really something a shop should have to deal with, and you should really thoroughly inspect an instrument on arrival and go back to the shop with the issues all at the same time, and not as you discover them. There has to be a line
10. They are both wonderful basses to play. Preference compared to a Jazz is totally subjective. For me, the idea of choosing a Jazz Bass over the beautiful carved body of the Streamer is pure madness, but for others the unwieldy offset jazz is the way forward! Never experienced neck dive with a 4 string streamer or corvette, wonderfully balanced instruments. Both have 38mm nuts, so very thin and jazz like, but the neck profile depends on the year. General rule of thumb; eighties and early nineties basses have skinny necks, late nineties up until 2008 have chunkier profiles (in general), 2009 they returned to a slimmer profile. The LTD models tend to have different neck profiles.
11.
After several minutes arguing with myself I just ordered one, might have a standard Cali76 going if anyone wants one....
Haha, I saw the pre edited earlier post I'm so tempted its painful
12. Available to order! Do I go for it, or wait to see what Darkglass come up with? Agonising decision!
13. C'mon guys, its as new and surely worth saving the pennies over a new one?
14.
Went to zoom into one of the pictures of this on my phone. accidentally set it as the home screen. Quite like it like that really. Best of luck with the Sale
It is still my Macbooks wallpaper, rather beautiful to look at! Plenty of interest both on here and on eBay but very much still available at the moment.
15. Expect a market place influx! The size of the cali completely put me off, this is a whole new kettle of fish. I am patiently wating for the Super Symmetry compressor release, however this tempts me greatly!!
16.
The ultimate bass compressor? http://webcache.goog...k&gl=uk&client=
I actually gasped.
