You've included the Stingray as a "classic" so time-wise your cut off point can't be earlier than 1976, and at that time the Stingray would have counted as a strange new design.
No it wasn't .. the active electronics were a bit revolutionary but the shape was considered a normal development of the other solid basses around at the time.
what if the guitarist is going wrong. With such a short playing time under my belt I have no right to criticise anyone. I'm just worrying about the rhythm section and will cross my fingers on the rest.
Stick with the drummer.

Reply with an essay on the poor state of society and how his non-trusting example is at the root of the gradual decline into street crime and social malaise... or just "Ah so you don't actually have the item, you are just scamming?" -

My custom P bass - Shuker bass building course 20/07/09

Top Jobbie! I like three dots at the 12th .. Very distinctive -
Moving to "daft things we have worn on stage" ... I was in a WMC band where we all wore tight white jump suits ... For a bunch of spontaneously erectile young men, usually in a roomfull of totty, I was frequently glad I was wearing a bass ...
Of course locking in with the Drummer is important. But it is just as important you know what you doing on the Tune front. It might be worth contacting the guy in charge and getting a clue as to what you are jamming. An experienced guy would just erm..'Jam'. But if you are feeling vulnerable with that side of it and have trouble with busking... Then just locking in with the kit or watching various bits of the kit wont really help. [ unless you know the tunes] Its really just down to a bit of preparation.... i would think, Garry
+1 prepared spontaneity is always the best type
I've started my 11 year-old son Alfie on bass. Problem is he is left handed. Managed to track down a short-scale, lefty Precision-alike by SX from the US. Cost just over £100. Reasonably good quality too and the action is OK. Was teaching him 'Killing In the Name of' last night!
Start him out "right handed" and do you both a favour....

Just Shim the neck .. put a bit of card under the end of teh neck at the body end. That will pivot it differently and can bring the action down..

Bad idea It's not been a dry summer so it will be damp and soft... Moisture will seep up into your gear .. If you have a drummer it will be very unstable and he or she will sink in Your PA tripod may sink in and fall over .. I'd request a flat surface to play on. Most marquee companies will supply a floor. Also I am sure your Public liability Insurance will have something to say about it - like they won't cover anyone who falls and breaks a leg ..

Dep wedding. Very smart dress uniform kilts everywhere. The Scots Regiment were in town and had organised the wedding. Everything was running 90 mins late by the time we were due to start at 7 ... due to end at 9 too .. finally started at 8.15 and ran til 9.30 .. Good dosh per minute rate but a terrible reminder of how bad wedding timing can get. They probably needed more than the one helicopter parked in the field next to the hotel ... I played my 79 p through the Cube 100 with the bass boosted and treble and mids cut. Using the Fliptop modeling and foam under the strings. this is normally an upright gig so I thought I'd try sounding like one, Jamerson stylee, well except for flats... Sounded great Nothing else in that frequency range in this band so plenty of clarity and thump. Limiting the harmonics seemed to be the way to go and teh lack of sustain added to teh response. it was quite a revelation. I'm growing to like this P.. Shame it's got to go to help pay for the incoming W&T in a few weeks time ... Edit: Oh yeah and there were lots of rough tough soldiers in kilts dancing as ladies in all male couples ...

Yup Listen to the bass drum, follow the drummer if he goes "wrong" - that's why we have drummers, to lead from the beat, otherwise we'd have conductors ... Cheats are to watch the bass drum pedal or front skin if you can't hear it. or to stand just in front of the kit and put your foot against the spike of the bass drum and feel what he's doing. On most records the bass player and drummer have worked out something that gels so listening to the record for both the bass part and the drum part will give you a decent starting point. Then just let it flow .. Don't be afraid to ask him to play the groove again on his own to hear what he's doing and to come up with something to play against it.
