1. Actually I'm thankful I'm a bassist! It has saved me a fortune! Guitarists constantly amass picks, pedals, multi-effects pedals, pedal boards, power supplies, batteries, cables (short, long, patch, etc) different types of guitar for different sounds, the same types of guitar for the same sound, amps for different sounds, amps for the same sound but at different volumes, valve amps for vintage, solid-state for something different, broken amps for 'projects', straps for all their guitars, cases (one soft and one hard for each guitar), complete packs of strings, incomplete packs of strings with the high E having been pilfered cos they keep breaking it, mixed sets of different branded strings cos they can never find the complete packs they buy, capos, tuners (clip-on, pedal types, chromatic, non-chromatic)...
2. If the lack of a Fender logo or the mods are putting people off then they really are missing out on a phenomenal bass. I have tweaked this bass to near-perfection playability wise and also sound wise. If nothing else, I'd encourage anyone sitting on the fence to come and have a no-strings-attached (and no pun intended) play on this bass. Same goes for the fretless Jazz I've got for sale. I am contemplating keeping this, as it is an 'old friend' so to speak. I just don't play it anymore and I'd be pleased to see someone else getting the playing time on it. Mark
3. Sold pending the usual Thanks for the posts guys. These are great bits of kit and vastly underrated.
4. Indeed!
5. I like how they've created different amps based on (what I assume to be) the same power section. The classic is a great idea for those who just like to sort their eq out once, then plug and play; the RH450's programmable eq settings is just plain GENIUS! I love it. However, I'm not quite sure where the Staccato fits in. At a cursory glance I can't see any obvious differences in the feature set of the RH450 and the Staccato. Can anyone enlighten me?
6. £600... hmmm Not a small amount, but not bad either.
7. Finally! Someone bringing out a small power amp. Absolutely love the look of these.
8. Out of interest birdy, what preamps have you amassed for use with the IP?
9. Preach it birdy!
10. I got a full kit from Stewmac in the states. Complete fretwork kit. I have yet to do a complete fret dress, but I have used the other tools to great effect to neaten fret ends, reseat frets etc. Cost about 100 quid plus a bit for her Majesty. I'm hesitant to do a proper fret level though, particularly on my more expensive instruments. My main guitar could do with the last few frets being looked at, but it's a double locking trem, which makes it all the more difficult to sort it out.
11. That would be my understanding of the IP310 too!
12. Oooo, also very intriguing! Thanks Owen!
13. One of the best bass sounds I've ever heard was a Bongo through a 1210R. Honestly, only a few bass sounds make me go 'wow' and this was one of them.
14. Bump. Once again, please do contact me if you are at all interested. This is a fantastic bass that has served me incredibly well over the years.
15. Bump. Do get in touch if you're interested! I'd rather someone got the use of this bass seeing as I'm not.
16.
Berg IP310 with pres, sounded great but not loud enough for me
Not loud enough?!?!? Do you have particularly intense volume requirements? Or is it quieter than one might think when fully cranked?
17. You are welcome. Before that it was Owen's. He sold it to me with my Berg IP112 as part of a deal. The idea was I could use it as an extension cabinet, but I never did. Then the EX112 came up for sale. Win!
18. Changed my mind. My ultimate rig would be two Bergantino IP310s together with SFX m:D2 preamp. That would be a monstrous rig.
19. Excellent! I can't really say it used to be my cab though. A more accurate way of phrasing it is perhaps 'I used to store that cab in my house'
20. I did have a Berg HT115 (sold it to Birdy/Flanker - I forget which!) but I never used it. In fact, I hadn't even unpacked it from the box it shipped in. I have old pics of my single IP112 at home, but I don't have any proper pics of my full IP stack... I must rectify this!
21. Fail. Colossal, epic fail... And to think... I used to respect you... Just kidding, we all make those mistakes. The G-Force looks amazing, but it may be a bit overkill for where I'm at musically at the moment. A simple® solution might be the ME20B. I have the ME20 and it has a 4 band eq (bass, lo-mid, upper-mid, treble) that you can program onto different patches (10 banks, 3 patches per bank). I really like the guitar version and have been tempted by the bass version, despite my aversion to effects on bass. I may not use all (if any!) of the effects, but I'd be able to have up to 30 eq settings that I could easily switch between.
22. Thanks for the suggestion Alien! I'd prefer something with a few more eq settings that I could access just with a stomp, so I'll probably pass. Nice idea though! Mark
23. Absolute bargain this. I used to use a friend's Peavey small combo and it was a fantastic sounding amp... really loud and full sounding considering its size. If I was having to put together a budget rig, this would be a definite solution for the cab.
24. Clearly this is a new feature that Jim Bergantino is adding to his cabs. This hidden blue background actually contributes to the tone of the cab to enhance its warmth and clarity... it even helps to reduce the weight! Honest!
