1.
yeah I noodle in the house whilst watching the tv unplugged all the time. I doubt my wife would allow me to amp up everytime i pickup the bass and I doubt my 11month old boy would sleep as well as he does either hahaha
You need a bass trainer - I've a 3 year old and an 18 month old - silent practice is the norm...
 2. I know you said not too expensive but the Mono bag is absolutely ace. Hideously expensive though.
 3. Slight thread hijack but what do they sound like? Or are they pretty unique?
 4. ...and can I be first to test it Ok so it looks like the business idea isn't worth doing.
 5.
I'd be willing to provide help/designs/coding for the website if you need it, TS.
Yeah any help you could provide would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks for all the advice. The website was done in Publisher as it's all I've got. I did try a couple of free packages but got very frustrated with them. We haven't really got the cash to pay for a pro website at the moment as we still have a few band things to pay for from gigs.
 6.
If you're near that tax threshold, you can probably afford to make it into a self-funding yet official thing, i.e. spend all the musical income on musical gear - strings, instruments, stage gear etc.. hence no additional tax liability but officialdom is, bizarrely, happy! Any income is technically of interest to HMRC, but they aren't the ogre that some make them out to be. Unless they find you first..
That's a good idea. Think we do need to speak to an accountant
 7.
I came across this doing a google...This Link
Wow - think we need to up our game slightly
 8.
The tax threshold sucks. I'd be content to remain amateur, to be honest - unless it's a substantial additional income, so as to off-set the liability.
Tbh this is all just talk at the moment. We haven't really made any money yet, just wondering what the benefits are...
 9.
No but on an imac
Can I ask what browser you are using? Bit of a quirk in the software I used...
 10.
There's a lot of threads here about going pro/wedding bands/function bands etc..... Get yourself a good accountant, make sure you claim for everything, Never undersell yourself and get your website sorted out.... the links on the left hand side don't work for me
Cheers, I know the problems with the website. Are you trying to view the site with an IPhone?
 11. The singer is wanting us to go official with our band as we've just done our first wedding and have a few more in the pipeline. As I've got a full time job it will mean I pay 40% tax as I'm right at the new threshold already. Can anyone give me advice? Is it worth seeing a financial advisor? Also on a similar note, does anyone give out contracts for weddings? Thinking about writing one as we did our first wedding before being paid in full. I've already started it in the format of 'your commitment, our commitment'. Should I see a solicitor to confirm we are not dropping ourselves in trouble? Does anyone have a contract they could PM for me to look at? Cheers guys
 12.
The author posted this about buying it from Amazon- they don't actually stock it so you have to buy from Bassline Publishing directly. Just for info
Thanks for all the advice - so anyone have a link to the site?
 13.
Fair enough point about the vid gents, there's another one where exactly the same thing happens but its at a party and two guys are goofing around. Perhaps that might have been less shocking. Sorry about that, my bad.
I didn't find it shocking (sadly see far worse things at work) just a bit lame... Any more bass advice? I've got the Ed Friedland DVD but have never got around to listening to it!
 14.
This guy's learned how to slap too.
Oh dear, I would have expected this on a guitar forum...
 15. I was just surfing around on youtube and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JInxsRyVgCk How difficult would it be to slap like this? Where do you start? I don't slap as I'm more of a rock player - but it's something I've been meaning to learn for while. Any advice?
 16.
I'll spread the word around my circle, being local to that area. If I meet anyone interested I'll send 'em your way. Good luck, and I really hope it comes off.
Cheers mate, much appreciated
 17.
The fees tend to increase dramatically though.
No offence meant - I was basing that opinion solely on a gnr tribute I once saw. The three tributes on that Rock n roll best band thing off the telly looked pretty good.
 18.
Well it's good stuff.. Will you be doing the look as well as the music?
Nah, have always thought tributes that try and look like the real artists look a bit daft!! Although I could be persuaded to wear a pair of shades
 19.
They got you then BON JOVI GIGS TO TRIGGER FRESH WAVE OF PUB BANDS
Not really - been talking about doing it for 3 years. Done Living on a prayer with the band for the last 2 years. Problem I have is finding the time. Btw they were pretty good at the O2 - although I have seen them 7 times now...
 20. Bit of a long shot, but looking for people to form a Bon Jovi covers band in Hull. Nothing too serious at present, have possibly a keyboard player. So that's two of us (I'm obviously on bass).
 21. Would you be interested in swapping the head for a Shuttle 3 plus cash? I know you don't want to split...
 22. I want to actually get to this one - so does anyone want a lift? I'm just East of Hull, but will pick up anywere in East Yorkshire.
 23.
Drop Beedster a PM, he has one (I believe)
Are you sure? He flogged me the active parts from his Precision Special as he said he was strictly a passive guy...
 24. I've got one...it's great
 25.
always the big question is can YOU AFFORD THEM
Wow how patronising is that?? This thread is a joke, right??
