1.
So other than the tuners, shape of the scratchplate, pickup and bridge, isn't this just a rebadged Bronco albeit a hundred quid more expensive? Don't get me wrong I've wanted a Mustang for years but that's a huge difference in price for a few changes. I really hope I'm wrong and there's more to it than that
Different body wood too, I doubt it will have the same neck as the Bronco either but time will tell.
 2.
Bear in mind a Mustang is a budget bass so won't have fantastic hardware, pickup etc. although they've always played pretty well in my experience. The Gibson basses have always been a bit of a law unto themselves so I would definitely try before I buy, but if you like them (I do) there's nothing else that looks, feels or sounds quite the same.
I wouldn't have said the Mustang was a particularly budget instrument, the current Japanese models retail for around £650 now and come with SD pickups as far as I'm aware?
 3. I've got one of those little Action Jr basses too, it's surprisingly decent for the money! I've only managed to get the action down to 3mm thus far, but I'm working on it. I'd agree that the nut is cut a little high too but I haven't dared mess with that yet. The neck is a bit too slim for my tastes, but it actually has a fairly usable and even sound, balances well and weighs in at less than 7lbs!
 4.
Yeah, still P/J but no stack knobs, v/v/t from what I've seen, black, red or Silver...£199 ish.
Blimey, any ideas of a release date?
 5.
There's also a short scale Jaguar bass coming too...
Really?!
 6. I'd be quite interested to know the weight of this!
 7. Blimey, these look lovely! I see they have lightweight bodies in the specs, what sort of weights are they clocking in at?
 8.
Hi there, I'm new to Basschat (as a 'poster'). I've been reading the boards for quite a while, but your bass has made me join! I am a big fan of Paul Rose's work, and would like this bass. I don't really know the 'protocol', though. If it's still for sale, could you email me? Thanks.
Good Morning, There a few interested parties at present but nothing 100% confirmed as yet, I've sent you a message...
 9.
Really cool bass there, I have back problems, and this could look great sitting next to my mustang...what's the neck like?
Ongoing back problems are the main reason this bass came into existence really, I asked for the neck to be in the same ballpark as a precision! Whilst it is light, it definitely feels like a solid bit of kit! Cheers, Phil
 10. Good question! It's a 30" scale but the through body stringing gives it that little extra tension.
 11. Nice one, there's a few interested parties but nothing concrete as yet!
 12.
That looks really sweet, Phil. I don't suppose you have any audio clips of it do you? Cheers, Stuee
I'm afraid not; i have used it on my bands recordings but it sounds so similar to the pbass kept in the studio that i can't recall which ones i actually used it on now!
 13. Good Morning, Due to circumstances beyond my control I'm having to part with a few of my prized possessions, which means my short scale prosebass grabber is reluctantly going up for sale... This would be a great bass for anyone with back or shoulder issues as it weighs in at exactly 7.1lbs yet retains a great tone. It is less than a year old and in perfect condition apart from a tiny flaw by the rear strap button that I'm hoping is visible in the photo below. There's a full build diary with all the details here, I have included a more recent photo as the neck/headstock was changed since then to be more in keeping with the whole grabber aesthetic. I'm hoping for somewhere around the £300 mark but I'm open to offers really, I can organise a courier to deliver if necessary, or if you're passing through Swindon you're welcome to come and check it out. I will also include a canvas ritter bass bag, some new rotosound shortscale strings and an old comfort strapp to sweeten the deal! Cheers, Phil
 14.
Such a shame, but I appreciate, it has to make financial sense for them, as they're really getting these basses out at a very good price point. Oh well, looks like I'll be modding a Bronco, maybe later this year... At least it has the right shape of headstock, for the proper tuners, and it's the same body shape as a Mustang/Musicmaster, so you can use their pickguards, bridges etc. which are fairly readily available, albeit from the US, as far as I can see. Cheers, Eude
As per another thread on here, the dude from My Chemical Romance is now playing a Mustang, I imagine that would ensure a fair few sales to teens who can't afford £700 for a Japanese reissue! I've noticed quite a few players using Mustangs of late. I keep thinking about modding a Bronco but they just don't feel right to me, obviously they aren't going to compare with a Mustang, but again it's like that noticeable difference between an Affinity Precision and a CV one.
 15. I saw a live shot of him playing a Mustang in altpress a while back, the one in that clip does look like it's been modded with a humbucker though. I'm noticing more and more players using Mustangs nowadays...
 16.
Why oh why do Squier not bring out a VM Shortscale of some description?!!!! Or even just a higher quality shorty than the little Bronco... I'd be on it like an aggressive moss! Eude
I emailed Squier last year and they said there was no plans to produce a VM or CV shortscale. Sadly, my powers of persuasion got me nowhere on that one.
 17. I live in faint hope that one day a CV or VM Mustang will be announced in one of these threads!
 18.
Oddly - my Jaguar is 8lbs exactly - and that's 2ozs less than my SR500 and ½lb lighter than my VM-J and my Precision and my MiM Deluxe Jazz is the heaviest at 9lb 9ozs. So the Jag is the lightest and I think that's great for me - because usually when it rains soup all I have is a fork.
What's the balance like on the Jaguar? I know they have a slightly shorter upper horn so I wondered if there was any neck dive at all? I really wish Squier would get round to making a VM or CV Mustang bass!
 19.
Really wish they'd return to that BB body. The new ones dont do it for me at all.
Likewise, I much prefer that shape. I always keep an eye out for those passive BB's they stopped making a few years back with the smaller body shape.
 20. Let me know how you get on!
