    I think the deal we did involved 3 basses in an exchange scenario. I think I called it SB 900/elite because it was post Matsumoko and couldn't definitively ascertain which it was. I'm happy to be updated. It certainly seemed a different bass to my early 80's SB900 ( another passive twin pickuped SB) I owned in the late 80's, which was more like my current SB1000. I think the neck dimensions are different to my SB1000 (which enjoys almost Fender Jazz dimensions in an oddly non tapering way)and certainly the volume controls on the 900/ elite bass aren't recessed like the early 80's Matsumoko products. It's also lighter than my Oak coloured SB1000, but these are NOTORIOUSly ( sorry couldn't resist) heavy. Hope this provides some clarity. I certainly didn't intend to misrepresent the bass.

[/quote] Get used to it. i just bought a Nate Mendel R/W Mexican that was £700 and every bit as good as any other R/W ive ever played....Yankee or otherwise. The quailty is finally getting there on the good ones.

    Cheers for the lovely comments, BASSKIT: The nate mendel is great bit of a chunky 70's feel (Depth wise that is, the width is a slim precision neck wise), but the synergy of the ash body and the 70's neck and the SD QP pickup is great. Just as well..... as i had a dark teatime of the soul justifing nigh on £700 on a mexican bass. But what a bass.... This squier on the other hand is as slender as you could wish...

    I remember seeing an equinox tv special in 1987 about the electric guitar and they interview Francis Dunnery (then from It Bites) and he reckons his cheap 100 quid squier is better than his "considerably more expensive" fender .     Just bought one of these for my daughter who's starting out. We toured the local Cash Converters here in Shepherds Bush in London (particular good for music bargains i picked up a Tokai Jazz sound (Korean) for £99.00 recently) and the Pete Wentz was up for £89.00 so we gave it a look. She loved the colours ( Man Utd fan but to be fair spends her part-time job money on train fares to Manchester to games can't argue with that dedication) and the fact that it weighs as much as a packet of Rizlas was in its favour. Whacked on some new Harley Benton strings (£3:99 from thomann bass bargains of the year) it sounded not to shabby.....the neck was ideal for her small hands.
