  1. Saw one of these in Andertons and thought it looked gorgeous - that finish is a thing of beauty. Congrats! I'd definitely dump the Barts and gets some EMGs and a preamp in there if it was me though...
  2. New one up:
  3. If I were to start all over again and just buy one bass/amp - I'd buy a late 80's Kramer-era Spector NS2 and a late 80's/early 90's Gallien Krueger 800RB head. Cab to be decided....
  4. Thanks chap. So, if I wanted to upgrade it - what hardware/pickups should I be looking to get?
  5. Just been given this Bass Collection 'Californian' Rickenfaker. Seems to be Indonesian made and sounds pretty good. Any info on these? Thoughts? Quality etc?
  6. Love that wood..... glwts!
  7. Awww man..... I'm skint right now... :(
  8. Ooh..... good idea. Will have to think about that... so many great songs....!
  9. Duly noted....!
  10. Yes indeed, thanks again for parting with her...
  11. Thank you.... and though I heartily agree re: Rutger, the Voulez Vous bassline was actually recorded by Arnold Paseiro.
  12. Lol! If you only knew the amount of FAILED takes I did on each video before I managed to do a clean pass....
  13. Funny thing is... I have no recording/tech gear. I simply set up my phone on a shelf, press play on my hi-fi and play along on my bass. I just do a couple of quick passes to check my bass can be heard and that's it. Zero recording gear financial outlay!
  14. LOVE that tune! Such a slinky bassline.... Thanks!
  15. Within reason...... i.e. if I like the song.... and like/can play the bassline! lol!
  16. Wow.... thanks so much everyone. Never done anything like this before and it's not easy to have your playing under the microscope so I really appreciate the support 🥰
  17. Over these past few months of lockdown I've taken the time to record some of my fave basslines. Mainly rock, and lots of KISS, but plenty of other stuff from Cliff Richard to The Doobie Brothers to E,W & F in there.... I did it all for myself initially.....and kept it private with just a few close friends but I've been persuaded to upload it all to the public. I'm playing many of the basses in my collection so lots of bass p*rn in there too for those who don't like my song choices... lol! More basslines being uploaded soon..... so please feel free to subscribe. Hope you enjoy.... and please be kind! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4fUL3cm3mec9PPuWwjxuzA/videos Btw, some friends have asked me why I don't have my face onscreen. This is simply because I prefer to concentrate on the instruments and the basslines. I have no interest in seeing what the person looks like on youtube..... unless it's Marta Altesa
  18. The 'Toy Matinee' album - incredible production & sonic bliss Steely Dan - Aja. As above.
  19. Dunlop grey .88 here.
  20. Gorgeous basses. Do a search of this site for them and you'll see a couple of people own/have owned them and only have great things to say....
  21. Strange. I've never struggled for different tones. I've used mine for everything from funk to rock to disco to reggae .. and it's delivered every time.
  22. I would look at a Spector with EMGs rather than the Barts. Different kettle 'o' fish and the stand out by far.
  23. His new vid is up: p
  24. I wouldn't say I actively search out new music, but occasionally some new music catches my ear..... the odd new rock act playlisted on Planet Rock... or sometimes something that reminds me of classic older music that I like. e.g. new 'Yacht Rock' purveyors "Young Gun Silver Fox". Otherwise, I like finding 'new to me' old music, typically from the 70's.... e.g. Lake, Lucifer's Friend, Zon etc I prefer my music, whatever the style, to be organic so soulless modern pop, dance, rap music etc generally leaves me cold.
