  1. A black Spector is almost as iconic as a white Spector. Luckily for my bank account I already have that covered.... A very cool bass indeed. GLWTS!
  2. Bought an EMG preamp from Quent. Fast receipt of item and great comms as always. Highly recommended!
  3. I believe so. Not sure, I think it may be a combination of slightly wider pickups and tighter string spacing. Funny thing is, it doesn't appear to have affected every bass - may just have been a duff pickup batch in that first run?
  4. It was an issue on the early releases of the Dimension 5. It has been addressed now and new production has it sorted. Anyone with an issue from the 1st batch can get a replacement/swap.
  5. When I used to do the KISS tribute show I'd sometimes get a young support band bassist asking if he could use my bass rig. My reply (often said while I was in full 'Gene Simmons' get up 😝) of "Sure, if I can use your girlfriend" usually sent them packing... lol! 🤣😂😜
  6. Ahh....... I bow to your superior dodgy girl group knowledge..... lol!!
  7. All Saints..... weren't they the ones who sang "You can lick my hole again"? Not very Saint-like...
  8. Sounds to me like they were telling you to look and sound like a generic modern metal bassist. There is more to life than Dingwall and Darkglass.... and you can create your own musical identity in the process. Or maybe they just want your bass to disappear behind the heavy guitars and bass drum.....
  9. Nope, just nope.
  10. I always much preferred Ratt to Crue, Poison, etc.... they just seemed to have the edge on cool riffs and had much better guitarists.
  11. I've known about them/loved them for 10+ years, but I certainly wasn't aware of them at the time. Guy Pratt's vids have brought them to the ears of more people now than ever were fans back in the day. A fantastic album for sure!
  12. Lovely to share the discovery with you, Sir! Both of our lives are that much the richer for it!
  13. One of my fave bands of all time I actually only discovered a couple of years ago...... but their first 4 albums (from 1976 - 1980) are, to my ears, masterpieces. The band is 'Lake' - a German/British rock band with a sound somewhere between Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Wish I'd known about them earlier.... but I would have been under 10 years old at that time!
  14. I'd say Terry Kath (of Chicago) IMHO. Hendrix was blown away by him too. Had he been in a power trio (like Cream/ Mountain / Experience etc) everybody would be praising his name. However, as an ensemble player in a 7 piece band with a 3 piece brass section his amazing talents have always been underrated (except for by those in the know (Hendrix, Lukather, Walsh, Lynne etc etc).
  15. I believe that's the remainder of the old stock.
  16. Stunner! Congrats and welcome to the club
  17. Love it..... GLWTS!
  18. I've enjoyed each of the 'singles' I've heard on Planet Rock. Nice bass playing on there too... I may have to pick up the CD at some point
  19. This was the cheapest entry level Spector approx 10 years ago. The bassist here has added the pickguard.
  20. You only need one bass....... Nah.... not really!! 😂🤣😂🤣
  21. I much preferred KISS' unplugged performance. It showed that there were real 'songs' and genuine talent behind all the flashbombs and pizzazz....
  22. Price reduced to just £1100 !! No time wasters or low ball offers please.
  23. Me too.... I have interest, but noone making the final bite yet. Fantastic instrument.... and as you say, collectable into the bargain!
  24. Not particularly. I use a good strap.... and the headstock hardware is strong but lightweight.
