...... although, it would be worth at least that amount if it was this guy who was selling it. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/182151-its-him-again/page__hl__him%20again

my marshall mb4210 gave up during a gig
The Dark Lord replied to munkonthehill's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had one of these and the exact same thing happened to me - except at a rehearsal thankfully. It was the pre-amp valve. I switched to the clean channel and all was fine. Replaced the valve and all was fine. -
all "in my opinion of course"
Yep. I respect that. I have tried a lot of Jap and Mexican Fenders and they have that missing something to me. I think it is the basswood bodies, common in the Japs, doesn't seem to have the ring for me. I've played ordinary MIAs before, but those that have really made me grin have always been string thru MIAs.

Have you ever thought of getting a USA Jazz? Squier and Jap Fenders don't cut it like a proper Jazz.

What are you listening to right now?
The Dark Lord replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks. I have been inspired by the fabulous Olympic Closing ceremony ....... I thought that was a really touching moment. It has really got me into the song. A really beautiful number. -
Just make sure that you don't pay much for one ...... as you sure as hell won't get a lot for it when you sell it. What does cool mean anyway? Desirable? Only at a very cheap price I guess - so, I'd say they're not cool. I like 'em, a bit, but nobody seems to want them .... unless they are very cheap (did I say that already?)

I suspect that 2 x the same amp will be twice as loud as 1 x the same amp ..... but only under certain conditions. The signal you have going into the 1 x amp scenario would need to be replicated into the second amp in the 2 x amp scenario. So, you would need to pay attention to the input sources and how they were generated. Also, placement of the two amps may well have an effect - i.e. right beside or on top of each other versus placing them a distance apart .......... but I'll leave that to someone else. A decibel meter will give you the answer.

Changing the sound of a Jazz bridge pickup
The Dark Lord replied to The Dark Lord's topic in General Discussion
Well .... for better or worse, I have bought a replacement vintage control plate assembly with concentric pots for my Jazz from basschat's KiOgon which will allow me to control the tone on each of the pickups. No idea whether the tones will work independently. I guess I'll find out when I fit it. Also, I pickup my P/J from a local guitar tech (actually Dave from the rather cool Eternal Guitars in Chichester). He's wired it with separate concentric pots ... let's see if that does anything. I'll probably post and A/B test video on here a bit later. -
I also searched a while back for info on gear insurance on here and didn't find much. Maybe the mods could find some company to talk to the forum?

Hi I need a dep drummer for my band. We're a working three piece rock / pop / indie band in Worthing and Chichester and we need a drummer. We play as a duo (with recorded drums) in pubs via an agent who gets us such gigs. We have an on/off drummer for the times that we play as a full band three piece - bad he's off to pastures new soon. We need a dep drummer to cover some paid gigs in the short run - and perhaps to be our drummer when we play gigs that need them. Would need to get up to speed with a 2 x 45 minute set asap. Anyone know anyone?

I have one of these, and also looking for a spare ........ or a second one so that I could use two of them in a stereo pair in those rare occasions that I would need more power. Difficult to see that would ever be necessary. I'll probably buy new ...... but my advice would be, to anyone who has ever sort of considered one of these, but hasn't taken the plunge ...... DO IT. DO IT NOW. Best bass amp in the world, without exception. Never selling mine ever.

Smartphones for recording live audio (band practice etc.)
The Dark Lord replied to Mornats's topic in Recording
I have a Zoom Q3. I use it to record rehearsals and performances. It's audio recording is top notch. Brilliant. Picks up bass superbly, and, with the auto level record, can handle ANY level of sound. I'm 100% pleased with it. Video isn't great on it though. I'm upgrading to the Q3HD plus the new Q2HD for improved video, live webcasting (wow!) and to be able to record with two cams to be able to make more interesting performance videos. You'll never get the same from a phone. -
Pic of my bass collection...am I a Fender addict? From left to right: - Fender Geddy Lee - '75 Fender Precision - '65 Fender Precision L plate - '66 Fender Jazz Bass - Fender Aerodyne non export - '70s Fender Bassman 135 amp and 115 Bassman cab
A heroic effort. Well done that man. A shining example of proper bass ownership.
-
Yeah, lots of people make copies of Fender basses. They're obviously just as good, if not better than real Fenders. For example, I once had a girlfriend who looked just like Kylie Minogue - so she was obviously as good, or maybe even better. No .... wait ....
No reactions? Price not ok?? Just tell me guys (& girls)....
I'm a relative newbie on here, so I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe it is either not allowed (or at least frowned upon) to comment on the price of items that are posted for sale ...... I guess, otherwise, you'd have an avalanche of trolls saying "you'll never sell it at that price mate". So you don't get such feedback. But, since you ask, I think your price is just about on the top side of okay(ish)....... Prices are a little depressed right now .... it's a buyer's market. I see you asked for comment only 3 hours after the original posting. It's not that quick on here. You will get a sale at the right price in the end, if you have a mainstream in demand thing to sell ..... like you appear to have. But they only go that quick if they are rare sought after fings or total giveaways. I'd bank on getting rid of it within a month on here (with the market as it is). Otherwise, it's the bay. Oh yeah, some more detail would be good ...... year, more pics, does it have a case, etc. I like the bass
They now sound punchy as hell with the neck pickup sounding round, fat and precisionlike ......
Conclusive proof, here, that Precisions sound better Jazzes.

What is your favourite brand of strings? (Survey)
The Dark Lord replied to davidmpires's topic in General Discussion
For bass, deffo Rotosound ....... but if it were guitar, I'd say Ernie Ball. Surprised to see D'addario as the top bananas. Didn't know they were very popular. What's good about them that I should know?
