ABG is one of those that you buy it and use it a few times because of acoustic gig then you will sell it. It happen to me couple of times. Own 3 in the pass and sold it all for the same purpose. Don't get use a lot and it takes up space. I would rather have a EUB which is something totally different. I think when use normal electric bass on acoustic gig you might want to revisit your tone choice. Dial in something that will fit in the band. I'm sure when "The Eagle" play some acoustic sets, their bass player still uses his fender jazz. Classic example: http://vimeo.com/46839101

If you got a EUB or ABG then use that, otherwise i don't seem why you can't use your electric bass for the gig, unless your band say you can't use it. Amp wise you can probably get away using a small bass combo or a small cab since your volume won't be insanely loud.

I really like the idea of 2x VS112. I need to save up to replace that. I like the Ashdown cab better then my TC cab on the LB30 actually.

I really don't get sometimes when i lugged my big ampeg in the past then i get DI to the PA for a bigger sound. Now i can just bring the LB30 and a BC212 cab and use that on stage as monitor and DI the bass out from the LB30 ...... I tend to go less these days now.

Not like i need to replace them right now but if I do, which ones is good for more clean headroom?

I've not done quite the same but i originally had a MIM Fender P bass, i swap the pickup, added chrome plate etc and swapped out the neck for a glossy maple jazz neck. I like the bass alot and i use it more then anything. I thinking about adding a musicman pickup near the bridge. The good thing about this is I'm not too worry if the bass break etc since the bass becomes parts bass, i can just swap out parts when things break lol.

What valve to put in on my LB30 if i need to replace them? Which one on the pre and which one on the power. I'm all new to the all valve thing ......... too much addition at the moment.

Scout around for a used german warwick first. A german corvette second hand price is around £400-500. Having said that i sold my 5 string german warwick 2 years ago for £300 and that with bart pickup and John East Preamp.

I definite find the LB30 is easily gig able depend where you play and how loud your band are.

I don't really know how loud is these LB30 can goes as i haven't even crack past half on my .......... i use a 2x12 cabs so it gives decent volume. Got to try plug this head on a 8x10 to see the volume. So people i know gig with their LB30 drop head combo which i believe is the same LB30 head but on a 1x15 cab.

Something to do with Ashdown design. They could easily put the gain knob on the LB30 but they decide not to ...... then when they design the CTM etc they realise having a separate gain/volume is more useful. I got to admit having a separate gain/volume is better but i'm pretty happy with my LB30 already ......

The LB550 is not all valve ....... Is 550watt digital power section from the Mibass with the LB30 valve pre-amp ........

most likely is the CTM15 or CTM30 he tried. The LB30 definite have no separate gain/volume.

The amp only have 1 single volume knob, no seperate gain/volume so dunno why someone says the amp is quiet with gain and volume set ...... I wouldn't call this amp clean but i do like the growl i get from the amp. Is not massive loud like a all valve SVT but certainly loud enough for many things and is enough for small pub gig etc and even use it as stage monitor with DI out ...... If i remember correctly the EQ knob affect each other when adjusting, so is not like a normal EQ where you can cut and boost whatever you like? I maybe wrong, but it certainly cover a well range of tone you you know how to adjust the knobs and combine it with the bass/mid/treble shift

The LB30 have a better clean headroom because of the power. I've use a LB30 on small gig and it holds up really nicely. I use a 2x12 cab so that helps abit. If you use a 8x10 it surely will be alot louder ....

Tried this in the shop, lovely small valve amp for bass. Reason i didn't buy it because the LB30 i got (made in china version) cost the same as this CTM15 (also made in china). So i went for the LB30 instead. Tone wise is different, not sure is it because the CTM amps have a separate gain/volume.

Which TC head you guys talking about? If is the BH500 is a loud head in my opinion.

Can't go wrong with the Hartke. Is 500watt and plenty enough for gig ...... You can always XLR output to the PA system for larger place.

Yeah my is complete cubed, Ampeg probably do the newer BA108 like a cube and leave the bigger ones like 110, 115 etc to have tilt back. I got to say this small Ampeg really make me very happy. Don't know how Ampeg do it but for weight, size and tone is amazing. What amaze me the most of the volume it can dash out and also the cab can handle the low end nicely, even with my low B string. Thumbs up on Ampeg, everything other small combo i play except the Roland 20XL is all sound tiny and lack of low end.

My is not tilt back but i'm not fuzz. Can always buy one of those mark bass thing that will tilt the combo up.

One Question Lozz, How come alot of place keep advertising the Ampeg BA108 is tilt back but i've seen alot of them is not and my BA108 is not tilt back as well.
