1. It's very good, I should play on it more often. I'm pretty good at note recognition now so tend to do the one where you play the correct note from the staff in the corner, my fret knowledge could be better even after all these years.
2.
Sounds like a good deal considering the cost of rehearsal studios! Playing gigs there regularly will get you a following too so you might get more workout of it!
Hopefully as we are all fairly local too, even just hearing us practice each week could bag a party booking or something.
3.
Is it not a bit tricky playing bass when you're covered in KY jelly?
Not if practice it often enough
4. Science is boring though, I prefer Jpj's method
5.
Those of you blaming the smoking ban: Is it a reduction in the number of punters coming to the pub in the first place, or is it that people are going out for a smoke while you are on stage playing? If it's the former, I suppose there's not a lot you can do except stick it out until the economic situation improves and smoking becomes less of a social activity. If it's the later then really you need to be asking yourself why is your band less compelling to your potential audience than standing outside in the cold and wet in order to feed their addiction?
It's not really like that, the smokers are happy to stand outside, have a drink, have a smoke, have a natter and hear the music all at the same time. It does not matter how good you are they can't come in and do all of those things at once. We have all been told after the gig how good we were and that everyone outside was loving it, are you booked in again etc. winter will help send them back inside but that might be back into their own homes? Pub covers bands are just human jukeboxes, it's easier to get people to watch your originals set where they smoke between bands if they have come to see you specifically.
6. I was gigging regularly maybe twice a week with two different styles of band when the smoking ban came in and the demise was almost instant IMO, never really recovered
7.
Seems like a brilliant deal. Refreshments on tap too!!
We do have to pay unfortunately although I have a practice on Monday for a wedding dep gig, we use an empty pub where we are allowed to lubricate ourselves
8.
So that's your NYE gigs sorted then
Maybe
9. Give it another ten years and everyone will want one, I already do
10. I cant really see the point of tribute acts for artists still out there performing?
11. Sounds like a bunch of arse then mate
12. Bargain I would say!
13. I just popped into town and there was a Robbie Williams take off doing his swing band thing, very odd really.
14. Thats the best era of Ray IMO, 6 bolt neck, wheel of fortune, muted bridge, figured neck and the contoured body. You cant get that combination any other way
15. The nicest Jazz type bass I have played out of all the fancy ones and I have tried quite a few!
16. Only another drummer but they would need a lift to and from the venue, then forget something like the crowbar anyway!
17.
If you don't know the measurement method/conditions then yes, they mean nothing.
And even if you do they might just double them
18. Really unless someone comes up with a standard test its all nonsense
19. Is it possible the label only really want one of the guys and you are the first to go like this? Have you been replaced or has the label 'provided' a bass player for them?
20. The best you could hope for is a mention in the album sleeve which is mostly a thing of the past these days
21. I think the TC 450's turned out to be 256 watts the 750's quite a bit more. Thats why I wondered about the modules as someone would of made that link earlier.
22. It wont take long for the new bass player (or a session player) to redo all the bass lines on the album though, whether that ruins the songs or makes them better is subjective. The songs would need a bass hook something like Fleetwood mac's The Chain, Queen's Under Pressure or AOBTD to get any kind of legal challenge, its hard to put your name to inventing the major/minor scales.
23. And has the 750 got the 500 watt module from my Shittle 6.0?
24. So which model of module has the the 450 got then? Is the B&O rating false and its their fault TC got a slating for quoting their amp at 450 watts with a 500 watt module or has it got the same module as my Shuttle 3.0 which was naughty of Genz to call it 300 watts with the 250 module but no where near as naughty as TC for trying to claim it as 450?
