1. Maybe you could borrow Steve's outfit for your next youtube lesson Geoff? I have just been practising walking bassline lesson 1 Geoff (printed from the toolbox), I am even getting the high F in the two feel at about 100bpm but I need to slow it down to progress with the 4 notes per bar bit, I have even bought a new metronome!
2. Can you lot stop yoking around please?
3. Beard, Hat and a correct hand shape, its all good
4. Its a good look, Wallace and Grommit-esque
5. 6. Well I never paid any I cant put my hand on the receipt right now but I will have a look.
7. Don't forget the shipping is £75 but they are well packed plus you get a bow, soft case and rosin.
8. Do they make valve in ear monitors?
9. Not that I know of, general feeling is a toss up between Gedo or the Thomann ones, also I dont think the cheaper Gedo basses are chinese but I could be wrong, I think mine is Romanian? although there are Gedo basses cheaper than mine I suppose. Nice touch with the gedo is that you can spec what you want and they will put it on their site as a special order (mine is or was an actual model for a while, Half carved, Spiro strings, adjustable bridge and ebony board) I wanted to pay on a credit card just to get the protection but I dont think I would have any worry in future anyway.
10. I have tried a lot of permutations though It seems to resonate from the top via the bridge and into the tail piece from what I can tell.
11. I have a solid top Gedo and Im not sure its such a good idea for live gigs, I think its the route of my feedback issues which thankfully are getting better after muting the tail piece and making some fetching F hole mutes, I might have been better off with a full laminate and putting the extra money I paid for the carved top on some lessons Gedo are a great company to deal with though and my bass is really nice, very happy with it so far
12. My Double bass lives on one, it looks crazy without a bass on it like being on the set for Alice in Wonderland, massive! Good to know it will hopefully stand the test of time
13.
Not really. My Walkabout is very light, and I use a pair of cabs that weigh 10kgs each....
Thats all good too IMO, light is light however it is acheived, just goes to show there are ways of getting the sound you are happy with without the lead weight Here is another thing for me, I dont care that much! If its a massive stage where a big rig would be nice then there will be a great PA with a great foldback, If I ever play the Robin at Bilston again I might just take my Shuttle 3.0 and DI that and have me in my wedge, the PA and the crew using it there are ace. If its the dog and sausage then half the time I take a single 1x12 and a Shuttle 6.0 which is plenty and often I am cutting the lows as its too full a sound for the room anyway. I wouldn't use a full Ashdown rig over my 2x12 and Shuttlemax9.2 even if they weighed exactly the same or I had a roadie to carry them so there is certainly not a lightweight Vs heavyweight discussion anymore. There are amps you like and amps you dont regardless of specification, weight, power type, ratings etc. My favourite sound is a 4 string Stingray via a Peavey TNT combo, I own neither!
14. It's all subjective other than the weight which the class d factually wins on unless your into body building, it's not a class d worse than heavy amp argument, i prefer the sound of my rig to any Ashdown, hartke, swr or ebs rig, that's off the top of my head but you get my drift.
15. With an SR5 too, you cant go wrong
16. As long as you trade it for something you will use rather than bits and bobs like some trainers, top up your mobile, a night out etc I think its all good IMO. You could bring it up and explain the situation?
17. Genz Shuttlemax 9.2 and a Genz 2x12T 4 ohm cab, 900 Watts, 2 full parametric channels (valve and FET) plus a global EQ and FX loop and no back ache
18. Best of luck with it mate, you will love it I'm sure
19. Harley-Davidson LE P Bass has almost certainly already been discussed before now?
20.
But these aren't high-end instruments. Just expensive ones.
You can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter!
21. If it's a slab then there are other ways to date it if need be, if it's contoured then it is an ebmm bass and worth an email to them for an exact date.
22. That's fair enough then. Knowing how big the stagg is even when in it's bag i can't imagine the Harley Benton being that easy to transport, the stagg won't fit across the back seats or in the boot of our focus so it's still either seats down or into the foot well on the passenger side if I'm on my own.
