1. That took whole 3 minutes for our Japanese friend to appear. Standards are dropping
2. Just came across this on gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com/p/community/establishing-london-band-the-swaras-seeking-female-bassist/105936514 "we need band members who are flexible in dressing, [have] a small bust and an average to skinny figure, ambitious minded, confident, open-minded to ideas and cooperative" Something about bass-playing somewhere as well. Do you fit the bill better than me?
3.
> How about full song transcriptions? (preferably without tab) Ouch, expensive. You have to pay the publishers a wedge every time you do this.
That's a shame. It's song transcriptions and other song extracts that have kept me buying the American import magazines over the UK equivalents over the years. Are the publishing arrangements different in America?
4. How about full song transcriptions? (preferably without tab)

6. I do it all the time. You can use that muting ring/pinkie finger to pluck the string when moving from E to A, for example. Then plop your ring finger on the D string. Repeat. When your ring finger is strong enough you'll have a nifty three-finger plucking technique thrown in for free as well.
7. Hi - I've got a Fender AX-5000 Tuner up for grabs, £10 posted in the UK - a lot like this one: This is an internet stock photo, I can supply pics of mine if needed. However it's just seen bedroom use and is in the same condition as the one pictured. Straightforward stuff: LEDs to show pitch and flat/in tune/sharp; built-in mic for acoustic tuning, calibration available for non-concert pitch tuning. I'll put a fresh 9V battery in when I send it. Happy to accept bank transfer or paypal.
8.
Damn missed this !
It's all repeated sunday night/monday morning, except for the Ziggy film
9.
Read ParcelForce's website carefully - there is a specific point abut the hardcase forming part of the packaging - you have to take further steps if you want to be able to claim for damage to the hardcase. Have a look at the market place forum - theres a lengthy sticky thread about this on there http://basschat.co.u...uriers-packing/- i posted the link there after my own bad experience.
Thanks - is this the document? http://www.parcelforce.com/sites/default/files/Packaging%20guidelines%20Final%20300412.pdf (the link from your post is dead). Useful info there in both Electrical /Electronic Items and Guitar categories - cool!
10.
Photograph everything. So you can prove what state it left you in!
Very good idea! Will be doing this.
11.
Golden rule - read the couriers own site to see what rules they have. If you don't follow them they won't pay out . It happened to me; royal mail insist on a hard case for all instruments . If you don't do that they won't pay in event of damage
Yep, it's going in a hard case, but I'm packing that inside delivery-quality packaging as well.
12.
Or contact a local music shop, see if they have a suitable box about to go in their skip. I`ve sourced a few boxes this way.
Really good idea - thanks.
13.
Did you mean that? If so, not much packaging needed, surely? Just wedge plenty of foam or newspaper around the amp to keep it rigidly in place, tape the handles (as per chris_ , and stick a label on it. Oooh - look what happens when you type the chris_b user name inside brackets.
Yes, I meant it. When I say "flight case" I mean "case sturdy enough to protect the item when used by someone who knows what they're doing and has a vested interest in whatever's inside" It's not something I'd want to write an address on, stick on a stamp and cross my fingers.
14. Thanks - where would you get the strong box? Also, I've considered insurance - but seeing as money will have changed hands by this point, isn't it the buyers concern?
15. Hi, I'm looking for any recommendations or cautionary tales you have for shipping heavy and large items to the continent. I have a buyer lined up to buy a bulky item from me, weight 25kg and measuring 700 x 600 x 250 mm in its flight case. The buyer has chosen the delivery service, so I want to package the item as securely as possible so to avoid in-transit damage. For an item this big, do you have any tips for places to buy packaging? Thanks!
16.
The Bass Cellar seems to have gone, but Wunjo is still worth a look.
The Bass Cellar is now in the basement of Rockers, over the road. Rumour has it that one of the two Wunjo shops now on Denmark St will become a bass-only shop. It's possible even that the newer Wunjo shop is where the Bass Cellar used to be, which would be funny.
17. You can get the fan pack in WHSmith btw. Saw a stash in my local one this morning.
18. Rock Family Trees. Get the books, you'll learn everything there is to know and time will disappear. All three (a new one was released last year) are on Amazon. The first one is brilliant.
19. I bought Ovi's Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal. Really nice guy to deal with, and he was really helpful with carrying out an international bank transfer. Really quick delivery as well. Recommended!

21. I bought my second ever bass (an Aria Pro II Mab-40) and a still going strong Trace Elliot combo from Andertons in the early 90s, and always enjoyed good service. Anyone remember it from its previous location on Haydon Place?
22. Bump for Bob's birthday! See Google's home page for today's tribute to Robert Moog - whoever can closest replicate the settings for the classic Taurus sound gets a further £50 discount off any agreed price before midnight London time today, May 23. (hint: start with the top left control on the first "O" of "Google" - the Oscillator section)
23. The Moog T1 is still available - and a bonus item has been added to the package! See http://moogtaurus.wordpress.com for the update.
