The ditto was agreeing with you about the prices, the other paragraph was addressing the negative perception around them nowadays. Two separate issues. Alex
Yup, I know what you mean about the whole image thing. Not sure why they decided to go all 'metal'
I was just thinking "Oh that sounds tasty", when I remembered... I sold you it!
I've got a lined fretless neck from a cheap P-bass that I picked up last year and have replaced with a fretted neck from a Squier. Being completely honest, it came from a cheap bass so it's not the greatest job in the world, some of the fret markers don't quite sit properly (some in too far, some sticking out a tiny bit) but other than that it's fine. Does what you'd expect a fretless to do! This would probably be best suited if you have a P bass that you fancy checking what playing fretless is like on the cheap but probably won't be that great if you're wanting to play fretless seriously. Not sure how much it's worth really...£30?
Ditto. Warwick have done an amazing job of turning a small handbuilt outfit into a massive yet high-quality producer with serious profits. The downside of doing so is almost always going to be dislike for "selling out". It doesn't help that the biggest boom in Warwick's growth tied in with the nu-metal era - so many metal-focused adverts and endorsements, and such support from a genre with a history of losing the bass in the mix isn't great for building positive perception from non-metallers. Alex
Personally it has nothing to do with them selling out, it's simply that their prices new are too high for what they are IMO.

They really need to work on that website if they're serious about selling anything......it's f***ing terrible.
-
It's probably worth noting that as much as I like mine, there's no way in hell i'd pay for one brand new.
I always gig with my GB's. I did not buy them not to play them.
+1 Whilst I don't like dinging my gear, whats the point in buying it if you're not going to play it? I love Warwicks, I have a lovely 2002 LTD Corvette Jazzman. French walnut body, swirly bubinga top and real abalone inlays. Yum.

There's a big problem here who can't tell the difference between saying something in jest and being serious.

So is there actually anyone here who *doesn't* think Jeff Berlin is a cock-end?

You're a few months too late with this

Done a little bit of reading and I've found out what this is:
SUB OUT (ABM only) This output socket provides a Low Pass filtered output for connection to the ASHDOWN 400 Watt 1 x 15" powered sub unit for additional extra low bottom end. This may also be used to drive other power amplifiers to provide additional low bottom end to the system. The Low Pass filter is fixed at 160Hz. N.B.The ASHDOWN 400 Watt powered sub unit can also be used with other systems as it has its own active Low Pass Filter already built in.
Other than that, I can find very little info.
Thet do exist, try the ABRSM, or The Associate Board of the Royal School of Music. Think they do them. Of course some people will say The Ox never had any grades, or Jaco...
There's already a massive thread debating the use of learning theory, lets not start the discussion all over again

Sounds intriguing, I await pics!

I'll give you a pound for it.
Oooh OK... you should probably watch that one with caution, then! I think the only film I have watched after reading the book was 'free Willy' (Read in at Center Parcs) and was pretty disappointed
I think the film didn't really deal with some of the deeply philosophical moments that were present in the book. Not really
Warwicks really are the Heidi Klum of the bass world - nicely built, but utterly unsexy and well overpriced.
I'd have to disagree with you on that but fair enough They are a little overpriced though. I could bawl at you and ask how many you've owned and tell you that you're not allowed to make such comments unless you've owned several and how dare you insult a peice of gear I own, but I'm not mentally unstable

Bass Shapes (jazz, bass, singlecut, completely original)
pipe organs
I'll have you know that I've got a custom made pipe organ on the way, with synth bass pedals, LEDs and everything! -
Hehe nope. I had no idea what it was until I put it on. Good stuff if you ask me, though I can imagine the book is even better as the film had a lot of scope. Who is your avatar then? ped
That the rub with film I think. It's probably decent enough if you havn't read the book (you yourself are testament to that) but if you've read the book, it's an abomination. My avatar is a character from Watchmen, another Alan Moore novel, which is widely considered to be the greatest graphic novel ever written (it's even on Time magazines 100 greatest ever English language novels list) and it's currently being made into a film, out next year.

Bass Shapes (jazz, bass, singlecut, completely original)
Waldo replied to EBS_freak's topic in Bass Guitars
I like a Jazz shape but I probably wouldn't buy a non-Fender Jazz. Its Fenders design, let them keep it. There's so many body shapes you could come up with (no doubt comfier than a Jazz), it seems crazy (lazy?) to just keep copying Fender. I also quite like the quirky look of Rics and Burns Bisons. I tend to like larger body shapes, as I'm quite tall and small bodies look crap and 80's on me. Not into anything overly "rounded" like most Warwicks. They seem to small and have the appearence of drift wood with 6ft necks. Also, I don't mind hollow body shapes, my only issue with them is that their pickups usually aren't well positioned to rest your thumb on. Love Thunderbirds as well. Can't stand Metal style basses (overly pointy, "I'm still p1ssed off with my parents at 32" type things"). They always remind me of the long haired, snakebite drinkers who want to bore you with tales of Space Marines and Citadel Miniatures.
That makes me think of Rimmers Risk stories in Red Dwarf: 'Anyway, to cut a long story short I threw a five and a four which beat his three and a two, another double six followed by a double four and a double five. After he'd thrown a three and a two I threw a six and a three. I jotted it down in my Risk campaign book. I always used to do that so I could replay my moments of glory over a glass of brandy in the sleeping quarters. I ask you, what better way is there to spend a Saturday night? ' If there's one bass shape I really dislike, it would have to be the singlecut! -
Slightly off topic but props to you Avatar Waldo. PRS guitars, basses: They sure do look pretty.
Thankyou, they'd better not mess the film up like they did with V For Vendetta
