I'd like to hear the BVT in an A/B test with an SVT. It is clearly in no way a threat to the sales of all-valve SVT heads, valves are a different ball game. IMO, Behringer are just taking the piss.

The P+J combination on the 4 stringer makes the bass much more versatile for different playing styles and the P adds some big thump to the low end of the bass.

Have you checked out the Fulltone Bassdrive? They go for about £200, from what you've said I reckon it'll do what you require.

The current street price of a Stage 1 is £1400-£1500. There's currently a guy on the Warwick forum selling a 1988 streamer stage II for £850, which is dirt cheap.

I use one, it's a very handy tool and a solid little unit. It might be worth searching loopers on the forum because there have been a thread or two that are quite lengthy that detail peoples opinions and pros/cons of other loop pedals too.

And never chocolate either [/quote] That make a lot of sense about wax attracting crud, but I find that sometimes after I've cleaned a Warwick neck properly it can look quite dry, especially if I've used fine grade wire wool. I think in this instance wax is quite essential because it is designed to be a protective layer, it's just important to make sure all residue from the wax is removed from the bass.

If the fretboard is really caked try using really fine grade wire wool. Make sure you rub it in the same direction as the grain, you won't have to press too hard. This will also shine up the frets pretty nicely. After you do this use warwick wax to re-hydrate the wood, you'll notice a big difference. If you want to make a really spanking job of the frets use Brasso or a similar kind of metal polish. Brasso make a 'wadding' version that comes in a tin, this stuff is particularly easy to use but either the brasso paste or liquid work fine too. Make sure you mask up the frets as warwickhunt shows in his pics.

My 74' P-bass cost me £1200. At the time there were several other P-basses of this kind of era on ebay going for less than £1000. When I played the P-bass that I have now I knew that it was worth the money. I wasn't even in the market for a P-bass at the time and up until then I'd never actually played one that I liked. I think that if you can go and have a good play on that one in the Gallery and it feels good to you then go with it.

Looking good! It's simple and straight to the point, just like us bass playing folk apparently.

I also saved a bit of money by getting the sender of the package to put the value of the guitar down as $800. I didn't want to put it down as much less than that though, otherwise if something did happen I would be a bit screwed.

That's a bargain to be had! £300 BIN + Tax + Shipping would work out to about £400ish all together (providing the shipping isn't much more than $100). These are great basses, especially at that price.
