1. Barring Paul's comfort issues, I can see no reason, ever, to replace a BBOT. There are no strings in existence that could conceivably make one bend or be in any way less rigid than, say, a BAII. Those are made from zinc alloy, massively less rigid than the standard steel bridge. Hence the need for a bigger block of it. Can see the point of string change slots though...
2. We were supposed to play at the Poachers in Roche, Cornwall, but it has closed. Fortunately, the local social club, the Victory Hall, took on the remaining bookings. They did a couple of months' business just last night! Cracking gig!
3. I've had a CMD121H for 8 years now. With an extension, on half volume, it was comfortably filling a 400-seater. EQ flat as above. Amazing combos. It has spent the last year as a spare, but as my main band winds down, it's getting the new gigs in the blues and jazz bands. I'll say it again - great combos.
4. Schallers.
5. P-bass, Mark bass, Barefaced 2x15. Job done.
6. Just received a 121H cover from Pete. great deal, and quick delivery! Cheers, Den
7. Hmm, no, not 3/8ths. Shaft dia = 13.5mm/0.531 inch, bush needs 18mm hole 0.707 inches...
8. So surprised this is still here! Gave up trying to sell the Alien. Got plans for it now!
9.
To be perfectly honest, I've never found that replacing the stock Fender bridge makes much difference to the tone or sustain. There are other more important factors to consider first IMO. That said, some of the Fender high-mass bridges look better than the BadAss, Gotoh, etc equivalents. I'd keep the money or buy a couple of decent sets of strings!
This. There's nothing wrong with the stock bridge. Basic and workmanlike, yes. Bad bridge, absolutely not.
10. LMIII into Barefaced Super 15.
11. There's also the Squier Vintage Modified Precision Fretless. £250 in Wunjos and weighs just UNDER 7 pounds. That's about as light a bass as you're ever likely to buy.
12. Really good transaction with Howard for my bitsa PJ, highly recommended! Den
13.
The noise was irritating sometimes, but I came away from the show wanting to play more bass. That can only be a good thing.
THIS is what it's all about. I shall try my damndest to be there next year.
14. Great transaction with Pestie for a Slinger Strap. Many thanks! Den
15. Have both. Desperately sad bass geek!
