  2. By the time I was playing gear costing £1k plus I had discovered bass chat and was able to trade my way through some fairly nice gear. I might have saved a little money had shops stocked similar instruments to try first but there’s just so much choice out there even the likes of bass direct, bass bros and the bass gallery can’t stock it all. I did try a very nice Dakota custom shop jazz bass in a PMT once. It was a thing of beauty but the £2.5k price tag was a little heavy, and I do wonder how many of those high margin/ high cost items they tended to sell in stores vs online.
  3. Absolutely brand new, bought to replace my Behringer P2 as it’s got the mono/stereo switch on the top and it’s passive. Well turns out I get such crappy IEM feeds I need the boost of the Behringer and I’m moving over to a wireless system anyway. XLR/TRS/TS in, 3.5mm out with volume control and mono (dual mono) and stereo switch. I was taking anything the FOH could give me and then running the 3.5mm out into the aux in of the Element to give me a little 2 channel pedalboard mixer.
  4. Just don’t mention them. It saves on tar and feathers. And matches and shovels. And time spent digging holes in remote locations
  5. One of my favourite flyrigs. I just don’t use it. Basically a boost, big muff, ampeg amp sim and a Boss OC2 clone. It’s the same octave circuit as the Sonicake Octaver and Valeton OC10 which if you’ve seen my octaver comparisons nail that OC2 tone. DI out and fx loop, honestly if it had a tuner it would be perfect. But it doesn’t and I cover most of my gigs with the Darkglass Element
  6. To repair my road-side Thames 15cwt van breakdown, I took the London rush-hour tube with a six-foot long greasy, grubby, smelly prop-shaft in my hand, to get to a breaker's yard. No-one objected, and I had plenty of space all around me, both there and back. I don't think a bass would cause any issues.
  7. Bought recently mainly to scratch the itch and record some videos with it. Great condition and full working order, no box and no instructions, Velcro on the bottom.
  8. Absolutely. I would say just if anyone else needed it there’s rarely harm in using the overheads. After six string guitarists*, there’s nothing worse than the bags on seats crowd on a heaving train. * A joke before I get torched

    There’s a music shop in derby ?
  10. Good idea. Or tape it to your top bout
  11. A bass is enough - no shades required the reaction at my local om to zombie with bass was far superior to a previous rendition by same singer/guitarists with no bass. One fist-bumped me and the other high fived me and shouted “bass solo!” (No pressure) 🫨 I threw a bit of Gary moores “cold day in hell”
  12. The seller has provided pictures of the bass, and describes it as having cosmetic damage but fully functional. Errr, no. To be fair, it's possible he actually doesn't understand that it's not supposed to be like this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286668549376?itmmeta=01JYCTZZGMB1HN04SQP12EXRDH&hash=item42bec6ed00:g:g-QAAeSw1AtoV-I5&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAAwMHg7L1Zz0LA5DYYmRTS30lTgDzPBbALadvFO7aZvxvdRVdqsbPx7XTtxwnIqo1FdQRnrNBTDarYwORSfrgnmuW4we0w4SmNOy1Et92NabOQJ4A08AIL2HeIWKwHef6UWWpdL88cRh4zoEZ1CLR3WGq7vaDZyZjrE1CmC9qKZjDYOH9p4Be2SOz2wZeoLJtS%2BADuG9%2B%2BrUHjisGUQVkSN7nn%2FnulcC9J8tFXZVcxYYQBRlik1NAV8k1s1lhfl9EQMA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7j4_5rzZQ
  13. As far as the set-list goes, how about making a card up that can be slipped in a back pocket?
  14. I've seen more of these amps on stage behind professionals than any other in the last decade, even SVT stacks. If I had the money, space and use for one of these I'd be all over it... GLWTS
  15. Okay, but it looks like you are saying you set the capo at the first fret and aim for 2.5 etc. I wasn't being sarky by any means, just trying to be helpful to other readers. Jeez....
  16. Unless needed by a pregnant woman, or the elderly, in which case give the seat to them and show the world that bass players are better than guitarists who would fight all comers with sharpened plectrums 🤮so that their Les Paul might enjoy velour and comfort foam and a nice view through large windows
  17. I just got an Ibanez EHB to help with weight/back pain. Its really light and am loving it so far. I also just got a Shure GLX tuner/wireless as it has a large display. Last week on my old tuner I managed to tune one string flat because I couldn’t see the display properly, which made for an awkward first song! I need glasses for reading and close up stuff, but don’t really like playing with them on.
  18. My partner's daughter and her Family live near Aberdeen, so on the slender off-chance we visit at the same time I'm registering my interest!
  19. I know you set relief with a capo. The two sentences in my post are separate statements; the first sentence refers to the action, the second to the relief. Just sayin...
  20. Just choose an appropriately loud outfit; nobody will notice the bass.
  21. Everybody blames strings when setting the witness point at the saddle gives the strings their tone and 'voice'. Maybe try this out when initially fitting strings.
  22. I played last night in shades because I left my regular glasses in my car... at the drummer's house. I wouldn't recommend it - could hardly read the set list on the floor. I imagine I looked hella cool though 😎
  23. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  24. He’s talking about himself again 😛 Btw I see that pretty lady again in the summer fest pictures 👍
  25. Sealed with a kiss. Brian Hyland
