Hi Rob, as you've seen, I've only gone and bought one, ain't I? It was your approval and @agedhorse being involved - I've seen his stuff on Talkbass and he knows his pigeons - what swung it for me in the end. Looks like I be selling some amps an' ting soon. At this money, it's gonna have to be better sounding than both the Demeter pre + power amp rig AND the Genz Benz Shuttle or back to Thomann it goes. Spec looks perfect for my needs , though, and I dig the cosmetics. I'll keep you informed. Got me a gig in Ulverston tomorrow so it's gon' make its debut there. We'll see...

There IS a USB power source on the back of the amp, you can use it with whatever converter cable you wish to get the necessary voltage and polarity. This feature is on the D-350, WD, TT and BD-800 models. This feature and application is also described in the owner’s manual

Let us know what you think Shug. I'm just home from my gig in Manchester tonight where I used a GK Legacy 800 with a BF cab. I've stopped using my old RBs for these gigs as the DI isn't great, and the Legacy 800 is just so convenient and sounds good. I still use the old RBs for backline only gigs though, and they are hard to beat. I would love to do a side by side of my GK Legacy 800 and your Mesa 800D sometime. All this talk of fur and valves.... Rob

I bagged the last one from Thomann - ordered early hours of Saturday morning - and it arrives tomorrow, just in time for the weekend's shows. I'm trying to be cool about it but, well, y'know...

I'm keen to check one of these out, for sure, but I wish you'd asked ME what features to include as then this otherwise perfect looking amp would have at least one 9 volt output on the back to power a tuner ( or other) pedal. That's got to be a good, useful and relatively cheap feature, surely? I don't want you to feel too bad about it, though; I've been playing for 50 years, owned scores of amps and only just thought of it myself... Next time, maybe...

Please share your experience of the Ampeg PF-50T

No, it wasn't me. I didn't need the cab either, and I think I want to try one first. It's not like I'm short of amps at the moment, there are six here right now, although one of them is sick. -
I forgot to mention the other potential failure mode, in case anything similar happens again - plugging the receiver into the bass and the transmitter into the amp tends also to produce silence.

Here we have a lovely late-model (Status stopped graphite production in 2022) 2020 Status-Graphite S2-Classic 5-string through neck bass in A1 condition, finished in Transparent Aqua Blue Sunburst over a two-piece body with flamed maple top and faux binding. You are welcome to view and try this bass by appointment either in Derbyshire (10 mins from M1 J25), or in Ashton-under-Lyne in the Manchester area, whichever is most convenient. Price is £3095. Interesting trades towards cost will be considered. Buyer to collect, or can meet half way, up to 100 miles from DE7 (200 miles total distance.)

*PRICE INCLUDES UK POSTAGE * Wicked pedal! Tracks beautifully. Only selling as I’m now using multi-effect unit. In great condition (I may even have original box…can’t find at the moment m). Does an octave below and/or above. Also has an independent boost effect. Blurb here: Octavius tri-tone generator has 4 controls LO OCT, HIGH OCT, MASTER MIX and BOOST. LO OCT knob lets you set the volume of the lower octave signal produced by the pedal. HIGH OCT knob controls the volume of the higher octave signal produced by the pedal. The balance between the levels of these 2 knobs is what creates your particular octave-divided sound. Experiment with your mix, and you’ll be amazed at the variety of effects you’ll get. MASTER MIX knob lets you set the overall volume of your low and high octaves compared to your direct signal. Use the BOOST knob to control the output of your octave-divided sound. The boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.

Not really. It's 33.25" (standard 4*** series models) as opposed to 34" on most Fender basses. So it's longer than what most would consider medium scale (32") but slightly shorter than the standard long scale. Short scale is usually 30"-31"...Fender, Gibson, Guild, Hagstrom and most of the usual SS offerings fit within this bracket.

Ear Protection - What's really decent & off the shelf?

That's interesting... especially as their highly rated ones seem to be poor at blocking higher frequencies and the lower rated are poor at blocking low frequencies. This may give a more 'hifi' sound but it's the upper register that does the most damage so for on stage protection might some top end attenuation may be preferable at the expense of fidelity? -
No idea. Doesn't really matter to me either way.
