Good bass shops in London

I know this has been covered before in various guises but this time I'll listen.

I'm stuck in London for a couple of days next week and was hoping to visit a couple of decent shops for a rake around. Where's worth a visit and/or who is friendly?

Also, I'm staying in a hotel in Hampstead somewhere on Monday night. Anybody know of any pubs or similar with live music that might be worth a try on Monday?

Cheers... and thanks for sorting my social life :)

BTW. I'm in Bournemouth the rest of the week. What about there?? Ok, never mind!

The Bournemouth pier to pier swim is on the 27th of June if you'll still be in Bournemouth then!

Your not too far away from Camden town. It might be worth checking the pubs and clubs for some live music in that area, especially if you are going to the Gallery.

If you have tight speedos, a very unhealthy tan and look buff then you could spend a few hours stretched out on the slab over on Hampstead Heath. No need to swim unless its to make a quick getaway lol.

I don't know what's wrong with you all. I'm clearly going to stay well away from Hampstead Heath :)

Hampstead Heath is a really nice place, its just certain parts have a bit of a funny reputation.

Dont forget to go down to the Bass Cellar and make fun of the monkeys.

Ah, the good old Bass Cellar, I popped in the other day to see how long I could be totally ignored by the staff. The answer was that the 'staff' didn't look up from playing bluegrass on a Fender Strat at any point whilst I was in the shop, I'm used to getting a surly glance when I go in but this time I didn't even manage to raise even that much.

I wonder if they ever sell anything?

Vintage and Rare Guitars, on Denmark Street.

The bass collection isn't a pop on the guitar collection, but there's usually a couple of tasty 70s fenders, an old rick and some kind of hollowbody in there. The staff have always been nice to me too.

Yes, +1 for V&R. Simone is lovely.

If you're into acoustic instruments, Hobgoblin in Rathbone Place is worth a look. They're so nice! and you never know, you might bump into Paul McCartney shopping for mandolins.
