FS: CELINDER JAZZ J-UPDATE

Hi,

I am considering selling one of my great Celinder basses. This one is actually quite rare as it is one of just six ever made. It sounds great, and it is in a fine condition. Not mint, but definitely not abused neither. There are the usual dings here and there, but nothing unusual for a bass that have seen good use :) I am selling it because I also have a 5-string Celinder (J-Update), which gets most of my attention these days, so this one is just sitting in the corner... It needs to get played!!!

Essentially, it is a jazz bass with single coils in 60's position, but it has a nice and slighty more chunky Precision maple neck with reverse headstock. The idea is that the E-string can be straight for much longer than with a standard headstock, and that deifnitely gives the low notes an outstanding clarity and definition! So, I guess the perfect match would be someone who primarily plays P-basses, but would like to have the funky J-sound in the tonal arsenal as well, but without loosing the feeling of a nice and chunky P-neck!

The finish is white blonde (semi-transparent), and even though it is a passive bass, it has a huge punch and plays just as loud as any active bass I have ever owned!

It weighs 4860 g which equals 10.7 lbs. However, both the body and neck are pretty heavym, so the weight is actually very well balanced.

I don't have a sell/buy history in here, but I am active on ebay and TalkBass with 100% positive feedback (check my ebay username: boombass76, and my TalkBass Profile). Also, please feel free to visit my personal website to learn more about me :-)

I am not sure exactly what to ask for this bass. The Bass Gallery has some used Celinders for £4-5000, which I think is just crazy... I think Celinder basses are great and probably worth somewhere around the £2300 mark, but I am open to offers, so please just take contact if you are interested. £ 1,850 PLUS SHIPPING.

Well, sound probably describes it better, so I have tossed together a quick sound sample of this bass.

ABOUT SHIPPING
I will ship from Denmark, and I'll throw in a Warwick hard shell case for protection during transit, but one of the latches has fallen off, so it is not a case that represents any real value when gigging, but it is sturdy, and I will wrap up the bass in bubble wrap inside the hard case, and then put the hard case inside a solid cardboard box. I have sent (and received) many basses packed this way, and it has always worked out beautifully  In order to get an exact shipping quote, I will need a precise delivery address. A quick estimate is around £70 uninsured with the national postal service, and around £120 insured with UPS Standard.

And then a bunch of pics, of course

Very nice- if it exists?
I say this as there is no "boombass76" on Talkbass, it's a newbie listing it and a foreign seller to boot??

No offence intended BTW. I hope I'm wrong and it's genuine, but you have to be sceptical in these scamming times...

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon (and everyone else),

I am sorry for the confusion. As can be seen above (lowdown's post) my ebay username is indeed Boombass76.

On TalkBass my user name is Kimb76 (as my name is Kim Bang, and I am from 76 :-). Check my TB Profile here...

Also, please feel free to check my website, and learn all about who I am. I can assure everyone that this is NOT a scam.

Cheers
Kim

Hi Kim,
Thanks for straightening me out on that.
Like I said, no offence intended.

Good luck with the sale and if I had £2,000 I'd probably be on a plane tomorrow to look at it!

Kind regards,
Jon

I have been offered a few trade options, so I should probably submit a 'possible trade list'. I would really prefer a sale, but I would consider the following trades.

Celinder J-Update fretless (5-string)
Vintage Fenders (ca. '76 or older)
Rob Allen Deep 5 (35" scale)
Alleva Coppolo LM-5 or RA-5

Cheers! :-)

Hi,

I haven't put on a scale yet, but it is slightly more heavy than my J-Update 4. I can see that you have one of those, so you know what I'm talking about :-)

Mine is about 10.4 lbs I think so it's pretty 'substantial' :)
