How do you date a Fender case?

I am totally ready for the "glass of wine, soft lights" answers. I am so sad that I still think they are funny :)

A friend rolled in with an old Fender case he had found in a skip. Black, orange inside. Pretty mature metalwork but all functioning.

I fancy it, but do not want to rip him off or anything.

Google 'vintage fender case year' or similar. There's a great website detailing some very fine distinctions between years but I can't find it at present. If it's 60'-early 80's it's all in the logo, the 'R' in the circle, and the underlining

Doh! I was so ready to make this joke. "I'll get my coat" hell I didn't even get a chance to take it off!

Well, there's this vintage strat case for a 200 quid BIN. IMO that's getting silly really.
