Marvin Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 Just got back into playing again. I'm currently borrowing gear but want to get my own. Looking to buy some sort of practice amp. I can't have anything big due to the size of the house and I need to be able to hide it from the kids ( suffice to say the youngest pair are available to tear down houses if you need anything like that doing). My daughter wanted a practice amp for her birthday, I couldn't get her a fender at the time, so went for the line 6 model, (can't rememeber model number, but it was about £100). yituool Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) I'd recommend the Marshall MB15, one of the cheapest practice amps around, comes with some great features and is quite loud for 15 watts (and it's a Marshall!). IMO the Ashdown has the best clean tone but the Line 6 has more features. I believe there is a big price difference between to Marshall and the Ashdown, the Marshall certainly does the job of a small and clean bass amp but for me the Ashdown has more range. Cat Burrito Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 I started a similar thread a few weeks ago where I wanted an amp for playing along with friends in an acoustic set up. I spent ages going through old threads (to my surprise this isn't that hotly debated as topics go). I settled on a Kustom KBA16 which is no thrills and to the point. I've tried Marshall & Fender - both lacked decent tone. This makes my P-bass sound like a proper bass. I had a lot of people recommend the Ashdown stuff but this was a winner for me.
