casapete Posted Tuesday at 10:16 Posted Tuesday at 10:16 Can anyone confirm what brand these are please? I’ve a feeling they may be Fenders, but not 100% sure. TIA. Quote
MungoBass Posted Tuesday at 12:20 Posted Tuesday at 12:20 My guess would be Fenders too. What is the tension like? I found Fenders quite stiff but liked the tone. 1 Quote
80Hz Posted Tuesday at 12:38 Posted Tuesday at 12:38 Yes the green wrap and ball end colours correspond to Fenders I have. 1 Quote

Supernaut Posted Tuesday at 15:10 Posted Tuesday at 15:10 9050s. Green silks and the mint green ball end is the give away. 1 Quote
sprocketflup Posted Tuesday at 15:54 Posted Tuesday at 15:54 (edited) Deff Fenders. Cant believe no-ones said it yet **edit** I also found them quite stiff compared to similar strings by other manufacturers Edited Tuesday at 15:55 by sprocketflup Quote
casapete Posted Tuesday at 16:45 Author Posted Tuesday at 16:45 Thanks for the replies people. What would you recommend in a similar price bracket to the Fenders but not quite so stiff then? Quote
Supernaut Posted Tuesday at 19:32 Posted Tuesday at 19:32 Ernie Ball Flats are highly underrated and are definitely less stiff. 2 Quote
fretmeister Posted Wednesday at 09:37 Posted Wednesday at 09:37 I'm a big fan of Ernie Group flats (I don't like the Cobalts at all). They are easy to play and have a really nice non-grabby feel under the fingers. Quite bright to start but that settles in to the best old sound I've ever had from a string. I like them so much I've even done the E45 cream thing with them to get them there faster! 1 Quote
sprocketflup Posted Wednesday at 09:54 Posted Wednesday at 09:54 (edited) Ive tried several too, my preference is the Status Hotwires, but sadly they arent available anymore. Have got La Bellas on at the mo, but they arent cheap Edited Wednesday at 09:54 by sprocketflup Quote

These Harley Benton strings are amazing, a bit more rough under the fingers, but the overall tone is really excellent: https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_hqs_bass_45_100_flatwound.htm And here is the thread about them: 1 Quote

Also handy as looking to top up an order from Thomann with something to save on postage costs. They come in my choice of gauge too, so win win. Cheers. Edited Wednesday at 11:07 by casapete 1 Quote
casapete Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Used the Fender flats on a gig last night - I’m a convert! Three piece band playing at a weekly rock n roll club, and my tone fitted in perfectly. Thanks for all your comments and help. 😊 Quote
