kiat Posted Monday at 18:45 Posted Monday at 18:45 Ā Ā Ā Another fascintating video into the world of an in-demand show bassist at the top level.Ā Ian King covers his gear, preamps, settings, mics for his double bass and a discussion with the show's audio designer.Ā It's not that Overwater bass though, he's got a cool grey one, maybe with a maple neck (?), with black metalwork.Ā The tone he has is fantastic and his playing sublime. 7 2 Quote
chris_b Posted Tuesday at 11:11 Posted Tuesday at 11:11 That was a bass lesson in itself. Ā No stretching to reach notes, a lot of hand movement, even notes, totally relaxed. Ian shows how it's done. Loved it. 3 1 Quote

I've the time but not the budget for many lessons.Ā Ā Were your lessons with Ian in person or over the internet?Ā Quote
JohnR Posted Tuesday at 12:53 Posted Tuesday at 12:53 Every time I see Ian King play I go straight to the Overwater website and start planning a build. 2 Quote
chris_b Posted Tuesday at 13:22 Posted Tuesday at 13:22 I've played that bass. It helps that Ian has a phenomenal technique, but the tone is the best I've heard. Ā I keep up with Overwater basses, I even went to an Overwater event they held in London a few years ago, but every bass I've played has been way too heavy for my back! 1 Quote
ian61 Posted yesterday at 09:23 Posted yesterday at 09:23 Agree. Technique and superb reading chops plus really switched on with the tech. As with the rest of the band, all top flight professionals. Really interesting to see how its done.Ā 2 Quote
Mrbigstuff Posted yesterday at 09:40 Posted yesterday at 09:40 Itās no surprise that Ian seems to land the chair for the hottest new shows in town. Itās great for us that we get to see some BTS. 1 Quote

Really good at diagnosing where you need to improve, and gives so much stuff to get on with between lessons, 1 a month is almost too much! 1 1 Quote

Every time I see Ian playing I go straight to the Mayo Clinic website and start planning a hand or talent transplant!!! šš¤š¤£Ā Ā As with all Ianās videos incredibly interesting, engaging and insightful. Those bass lines donāt leave any places to hide and just show what a talented and skilled player he is! 1 Quote
