Bass Buggy = Brilliant

I bought a used Bass Buggy and it’s absolutely brilliant. I played at a festival today and it made it so simple to transport the bass.

 

Why, oh why, didn’t I but one earlier?

 

Just wanted to express that really.

I'll stick with my £15 quid used golf bag trolley.

If you spend a lot of time lugging an upright bass about on foot or on public transport it’s the best £200 you could possibly spend. If my one broke tomorrow I’d be straight online buying another one. 
Had mine for about 4 or 5 years and wouldn’t be without it.

I got mine used but I quite agree. I tried the golf trolley thing and it’s ok, but not ideal.

The Bass Buggy is a really intelligently engineered solution and it’s often worth paying for that than making do.

 

I could buy £20 strings on eBay yet I still pay £250 for them, etc.

100% this. It may not be a necessary purchase for some, but it's been a complete lifesaver for me. I can't even remember how long I've had mine for, but more than 10 years for sure.

Having struggled across a car park and rammed through triple-doors to orchestra rehearsal last week - nearly taking out the wind section at one point - I need to seriously consider this!

How do buggy users cope with also carrying a heavy bag containing seat/stand -  can you just balance that on the bass as you wheel it…?

Not sure about balancing things on the bass itself. One of the great things about the buggy is that the bass balances really well and it can stand up on its own. 
Could you carry the bag on your back or is that too heavy? I’ve done many tube journeys with the bass on the buggy and either a bass guitar or small amp on my back/shoulder. I don’t love it, but it is doable…

Thanks Simon - the case has good backstraps so I do ok with those until the doorways. The seat & stand bag is a pain so I was hoping for an all-in-one wheelable solution

These look great, and if I was carrying an expensive bass around uninsured I think it'd be money well spent.

I did use a collapsible sack trolley a couple of times when I couldn't park at a venue - getting out of multi-story carparks in Bath and Cardiff were the biggest challenges.
