Sibob Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Live or on the studio recordings? As they’re likely very different things. Si Quote
fretmeister Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I like working out sounds! Do you have a particular example we can listen to? 1 Quote
BigRedX Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Even on a live recording you are unlikely to be hearing anything of the amp and cabs you can see on stage, but the processing that is being applied either by the PA or the recording process. 1 Quote

Sibob Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Well I can’t quickly find out too much…but that’s a fairly sizable pedalboard he has in the Jools Holland vid. Si 1 Quote
Obrienp Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) If that video is anything to go by, they are definitely trying to move away from their Radio 2 image! Seriously though, apart from a JMJ, using a pick and Fender Bassman gear, it is hard to tell from that what is going on in his signal chain. The camera rarely lands on the bass player, let alone their pedal board. Guessing is fun but why don’t you message them on instagram, or TikTok to ask? P.S. For people as old as me: remember when you used to be able to write to Melody Maker to ask stuff like this and they would get onto the artist/band’s management? Edited August 29 by Obrienp Quote

dannybuoy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 One of the Origin Effects Bassrigs will get you there. Maybe the Black Panel as that dirt tone is probably just the Fender amp behind him! 1 Quote
Bolo Posted August 30 Posted August 30 There's a lot going on but the separate pedal (black, three connectors on the top) absolutely looks like a RAT and sounds like one dialed with a generous amount of highs left in. 1 Quote
