pantherairsoft Posted October 13 Posted October 13 About 30 mins a day, plus the odd hour at the weekend if I'm lucky. That said, by 'practicing', I'm guessing you mean 'getting better at playing bass', where as for me, practising is 'twidding knobs on effects pedals to craft new sounds'. Quote
Bassbooksbikes Posted October 13 Author Posted October 13 Yes you are right, as a beginner, I equate practice as a means to get better. 1 Quote

Reggaebass Posted October 13 Posted October 13 What I’ve learned is long practice sessions don’t really work for me, I don’t tend to absorb it all, whereas if I do 1 - 2 hours I remember everything, also if I can’t quite get something like a tricky Bassline, I always take a break then come back to it , and more often than not I get it straight away , I used to end up noodling for hours but now I make notes of what to focus on 1 Quote

Lozz196 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I play when I feel like it, some weeks that might be every day, others may only be once or twice. Only differences to that are if I have a gig, where I`ll go through the set a couple of times in the week of the gig, or if learning a song. I do try to play at least once a week though, I find it very therapeutic just playing along to songs on YouTube. 2 Quote
MyNameIsMark Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago There are some way higher numbers here than I expected, 90mins a day! How do you guys structure your practice time? Are you learning sets, or running through sets you know, or new songs, techniques, scales, etc? Quote
PaulWarning Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago I learn new songs, revise old ones before a gig, or work out bass lines for originals, is that practicing? don't have a set time, depends whether I've got a gig or new material to work on, otherwise I don't pick the bass up 1 Quote
