itu Posted yesterday at 08:03 Posted yesterday at 08:03 I saw the gig where Clarke, Wooten and Miller were playing together. To me the whole set sounded lame, because it felt like a set of showoffs, but no songs/music. There Miller was probably the best while backing up his two colleagues. When he started to thumb, the feel was lost just like with the two others. I have seen Clarke soloing with his band and it was a really good show, likewise when Wooten was playing with Bela Fleck. MM plays on The Nightfly, The Goodbye Look and Maxine. The rest of the album is a roll call of the best: Anthony Jackson, Chuck Rainey, Abe Laboriel, Will Lee. I guess that's what you expect from Donald Fagen (except he mainly uses Ready Freddy Washington live now) Edited 1 hour ago by Piers_Williamson tidy up format 1 Quote
Misdee Posted yesterday at 09:35 Posted yesterday at 09:35 (edited) Marcus's tone has definitely got a little more "scooped" as years have gone by. I remember buying his first solo album when it came out in about 1983/4 and being bitterly disappointed that there wasn't more bass guitar on it. It was mainly synth bass, I seem to remember. godathunder Posted yesterday at 10:11 Posted yesterday at 10:11 Loved his work on miles' tutu and jarre's zoolook. My ownership of a fretless sire with his name on the headstock is purely coincidental though Quote

They ended up loving it 😊 Quote

I attempted to learn his Steely Dan lines in lock down (along with the Will Lee Walk Between the Raindrops). 1 Quote

In particular the Gears album by Johnny Hammond from 1975. Edited 12 minutes ago by Terry M. Quote
