It was a light hearted joke

Then I started thinking - why the hell not?  I know many of us are very busy most weekends, and through the week evenings are littered with rehearsals and other sorts of stuff.  But if we could arrange a time when a bunch of us could get togther (a Sunday afternoon perhaps?) - nothing as grand as a bass bash - just a meetup somewhere in the pub to talk shite about basses or bands or anything else you fancy - would any of you Aberdeen city and shire bassists be interested?

No offence taken if it comes to hee haw, but if you don't ask, you don't get...

Hi Aberdeen bass players. . . . did any of you play with Dave Innes?

I gigged with him a lot down here in London. One of the best drummers I played with, he is sadly missed.

Even from 500 miles away (some kind of reference there possibly) that sounds like a totally amazing idea - well done @neepheid my Scottish brother from another (likely Scottish) mother

@brule_lentement you have gone full-scale red carpet here.

advice: Just don’t write a scathing memoir afterwards and have it published in hardback like certain princes of the realm .. 👍

Yes that might just work 👍 I missed the original post so I'll tag a couple of other "locals" who might be interested @Yan_Huriey@jig@ToneFree@woodyratm

Yes I did a couple of charity gigs and a number of jam nights with him. Lovely guy and very talented. When he came back to Aberdeen he played in the Gerry Jablonski Band with our very own @jig

I'm keen to make this happen, so let's get some ideas bouncing around.  Main issue would be "when".

I'm thinking weekends are best. For me, I have a gap in my gigging schedule next month with folk away on holiday and whatnot, so I have the following weekends free:

12th/13th July
19th/20th July

27th July

2nd/3rd August

Any of those work for folk?

So far all ok for me except 12th July & 2nd Aug.

FYI the 19/20th July is when the Tall Ships are in Aberdeen.

Oh, good shout, probably best avoid that weekend then - place will be hoaching with tourists probably in a sort of mini version of how Edinburgh gets with the Fringe.

I can see the headline now:

"Shortage of bassists in Aberdeen after they were all press-ganged into working on a galleon....."
