Fender Precision Bass Special 1980
£975
Lichfield, Staffordshire

1980 Fender Precision special, Lake Placid blue. Wired passively due to the active circuit needing a repair. 4.9kg as is typical for this model. I'm sure the circuit would be easy to fix, the bass works very well as is; priced to account for this issue.

Great sounding bass, really even over the board without the 6th/7th fret G string dead spot problem. I've played many eras of P basses and this measures up sonically with the best of them.

Selling due to it being a lean year for gigs. I can supply gut shots if required but there's no additional routing and due to the painted headstock it's pretty obvious it's not a bitsa.

UK sale only, collection only but happy to meet up within reason. Fender fibreglass case ( well used and heavily stickered) included.  Original parts included obviously also.

Thanks for viewing, Martin

This was mine and is a gorgeous bass. Feels manageable with a wide strap even for a glass back like me. GLWTS Martin - this is a great price for a Precision of this era.

Oooh someone is gonna get a bargain here. A mate has one in dark red from 83 (I think) and it's probably the best Precision basses I've ever played. Needless to say he'll never part with it.

GLWTS

There aren’t too many of these around so I’d suspect most haven’t had a chance to try one. I’ve had four (and still have one) and for me, they’re amongst the finest Precisions around. Build quality is usually excellent, with real attention to detail – this was the Dan Smith era. Body contouring is often superb – a return to the dramatic curves found on some earlier Ps. The only downside for me is that they tend to be heavy. This looks like a real bargain despite the compromised circuit.

Hahaha, I couldn’t resist another one. That red one is absolutely stunning – almost like new from what I remember. It’s also a very good weight. My current one is reasonable but some are really chunky. Fantastic basses

it is still almost immaculate. A bit of a case queen these days. I think we did the deal just before/during lockdown 1

Hi buddy would you consider a trade for a sterling stingray 2024 in sparkle purple

All best

Olly

Answered in PM. I'd rather sell than trade, thanks for the interest
