Sean Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 I've always loved Status flatwound strings but they haven't been available for years. Do we know who made them or if they're available from the original manufacturer under a different brand/name? Quote
Bassman68 Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 (edited) When Status first started marketing strings back around 1990 (Their Hyper-active range) they used GHS…Boomers if I recall? I don’t know if they changed supplier but might be worth a shot? Edited May 5, 2025 by Bassman68 Quote
dannybuoy Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 From their site: Quote Unfortunately our previous manufacturer stopped making strings completely. We have taken some time to find a new supplier who could continue to make strings to our specifications. These precision bass strings are NOT simply another company's strings, re-packaged, with yet another label on the outside. We have taken time to develop a unique range of strings to cater for any playing style. All our stings are HAND-WOUND here in the UK. I remember trying their half rounds vs GHS Brite Flats and they were very similar, but not identical. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 I always thought they were made for status by Picato. Quote

Might well have been, I tried Status’ own brand a couple of year’s ago (The later branded ones) couldn’t get over the discrepancies of string length in various sets, so went back to using Elites DB strings..At least they fit & tune -up? Rodders Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 I had a set of their flats on a P bass for 5 years before they developed issues, loved the sound straight out of the pack, Picato is what I had heard/read too. Quote
