A light combo with enough power for small gigs

Hi all,

I have a gk700rbII with neo 112 which is loud enough for all gigs. Weighs - 25kg

I have a roland 30 bass cube which is loud enough for practices. Weighs 13kg

Unfortunately next year Im off to uni in the city next to mine but will have to train it through every week for gigs.

So...even though the neo is lightweight its still too big for long walking with it and the cube is too quiet.

I was thinking something along the lines of laney RB3, its 65 watts, and 18.5kg.

Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Have a look at the thread about the Ibanez Promethean in this very forum.. It's a 500W combo in a small box, that you can remove the amp out of and use seperately should you so wish.

Markbass CMD121P. Small and manageable, and plenty loud. It's the same head as the Little Mark II, the whole thing weighs under 13kg.

You won't get much lighter than that, but even that will knacker your arms carrying it around so you really need some kind of folding cart to lug it around with. Once you've got one of those, 25kg isn't so much of a problem any more so you can look at bigger amps too!

Leave the GK with a band member and get him to take it to the gigs for you.[/quote]
I love a bit of lateral thinking. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Yeah I will probs end up doing that I dont find another solution. I just think I could get louder than 30w for the same price of the roland, as I dont need the effects
