thedontcarebear
My cab rattles a bit, it sounds like its coming from the top right, I tightened the screws on that speaker (which were already really tight), could it be blown or something? It still works, just an annoying rattle.
alexclaber
Play through it quietly, preferably some recorded music rather than your bass, and go round the cab listening carefully for the problem. It should be fairly easy to hear where the problem lies. Alex
thedontcarebear
I am sure it is the top right speaker that is the issue, it looks like there is some glue on the cone, would this probably be a previous repair? Any idea on a replacement speaker or getting it fixed?
thedontcarebear
They seem to have eminence 16ohm speakers in it, no model though, think it must be made for EBS? It's 900 watts at 4ohm in total, would this be a good replacement? bigthumb
If it is the speaker you could get it reconed by these guys. http://www.wembleyloudspeaker.com Their very good and have reconed speakers for me in the past. thedontcarebear
Just read on talkbass that EBS sent someone the specs of their speakers, and they are the same as the Gamma's, so might just go with one of them for speed.
ped
Might be a simple thing like the wires touching the back of the speaker if there is some slack in them (this was the case on my hifi speakers)
thedontcarebear
Sent him an e-mail earlier actually! E-mailed EBS the other day but no reply.

I had one for sale at Live Music some years ago. I'd try Alex' suggestion; you might be able to pinpoint the issue that way, and as Ped mentioned, might be worth taking the speaker out to check the wiring/foreign objects such as polystyrene getting stuck behind the cone (had this with an SWR Triad which buzzed and rattled in an awful manner!). thedontcarebear
I got it from a bloke on here last year I think it was. I've had the speaker out a few times and couldn't see anything wrong with it.
steve-soar
Have you checked any internal bracing near the rattle? Whip the speaker out and give any braces a wiggle for looseness.
thedontcarebear
I cannot find what is making the noise, and its really pissing me off now! Don't think it is the speaker, with the speaker out of the cab but still connected, it all sounds fine, I cannot find anything around there loose at all though. doctor_of_the_bass
Fosk Take the speakers out, then have a good look inside the cab - see if you can see anything moving about in there...you never know, there may be something in there causing it. Cheers Nick
thedontcarebear
I've tried that, cannot find anything.
steve-soar
Have you tried the back plate that holds the speakon and jack sockets and the tweeter control? Maybe a little loose.
Paul_C
Two things you might try: 1) find some thin foam as extra packing between speaker and cab, I had an Ashdown cab that buzzed annoyingly and like you I couldn't find anything loose, finally I added some thin strips on top of the foam already there and it disappeared. 2) I had an EBS 1x12 that made some curious noises which I finally traced to the jack socket - I was plugged into the speakon connector and as the back plate wasn't in a sealed box, it allowed air to pass out of it - I plugged a jack in to seal the hole and the sound disappeared. I don't think it's air from the jack, I had that from a zoot before though, tried blocking those with fingers and it didn't stop.
thedontcarebear
Tried foam behind that speaker, no luck, really no idea now, last thing to try is a new speaker I guess!

EBS_freak
I would say your speaker has a slight misalignment on it. When you say vibration, is it like a flutter? Especially in the low register? Best thing to do is to get a replacement speaker. Give Bernie a shout - how old is the cab, the speaker may still be under warranty...?
thedontcarebear
Not sure of the age, got it from someone on here, but don't remember who, I guess the warranty is only a year as well? Don't think I will get a replacement one from him as it's twice as much as a normal Eminence, and I don't really want to spend anymore money on bass equipment at the moment.
