Truss Rod washers

Last time I bought a truss rod, it was a two way, and there was no way to put any washer to it. The hex end was welded to the end.

A hint:

The thread was dry, there was no oil at all. There would not have been a possibility to grease it after it was built to the neck.

I've only ever had one washer go and it seemed nigh on impossible to get a replacement.

I eventually fashioned something out of one of those things that bread makers used to close the packaging.  Drilled a suitably sized hole, nipped off the excess and popped it on the shaft.  Worked fine.

I've washered a few metric rods and it tends to be the outer diameter that's tricky. Having a garage full of random bike bits, I found caliper brake shoe washers to be a good fit. Don't know the size offhand but I'll measure one up tomorrow.

It's years since I've had to do it (on a bodgily converted 8 string P copy) but that's what I used too.
