USA MusicMan Sterling 5 available.

 

Amazing bass that I've owned from new, and purchased about 10 years ago. The neck has to be played to be believed, and the range of sounds is amazing (always gets positive comments in the studio).

 

The HS pickup combo gives so many options, and being a 5 string is pretty unusual.  The gold finish has mellowed over the years and looks mega cool, and the pickguard has also yellowed a little... It looks great! Standard brilliant MusicMan hardware all-round, and is completely standard.

It's in amazing condition, has only ever been transported in its original hard case, or a Mono bag.  There are some nibbles on the headstock, and a ding on the rear of the top edge of the body (see pics).

 

There don't seem to be many for sale (especially 5s), so the value is hard... Let me know if you're really keen but have an offer.

 

Original hard case is included (but is missing a handle).  I don't really want to ship - would prefer you to be able to have a look and check you are happy with the instrument.  Happy for you to come to me to buy, or would drive for a meet if necessary (happy to go up as far as Bristol, or any of Devon/Cornwall/Somerset to meet). Only the second 5 string Sterling I’ve seen for sale up on here. Probably a combination of rarity, and those that have them, tend to keep them. 
 

Is the neck width much slimmer than a standard Ray 5?

I have loved it - it's a stunning bass.

 

Just had a look on the MM site and apparently they are both 44.5 for the 5 strings... I don't have much recent experience of a Stingray, but when I was trying them in shops, it was the neck (and tones) that really sold this to me over a Stingray.

I’ve had both and the necks felt identical to me. It’s just the body that’s slimmer (and IMHO is far better with the small pickguard and surface mounted controls).

Lovely bass and rare as hens’ teeth. Great price too!
