Request time!

Can you do play by magazine?

I'd come!

Mmm, very good suggestion, Song From Under The Floorboards is one of my all-time faves to play 👍

One of those "You really can't work it out, sell your basses you moron" questions, but what notes are the very last two bars of Peaches?  The penultimate two are |D# D#D#D# C# C#   |A# A#A#A# G# F# |  but the next two are a tone higher that I can't find.

Or is it an octave higher and not different notes?

Sounds the same to me, no difference.

I find there's something about JJs tone that makes it very hard to pinpoint the lowest notes. Also there are times when he follows Dave and others where he doesn't. I agree with Mr Valdemar that in this case he doesn't move.

It goes up to a final Eb.

You mean C CCC Bb Bb | G GGG F Eb | ?

I thought I’d ask Chat GTP this question and it said it was having a bit of trouble getting the answer. It did however suggest listening to the part in question and: -

1. Slow down the playback (many music players support this).

2. Muddle through on your bass or keyboard, testing different notes to find the right match.

😂😂😂

So, just like we’ve always done things in the time-honoured tradition of transcribing tracks.

Whilst I shamefully must admit to speeding up the playback for bass parts, I can now see how slowing down could work:
Just slow down by a factor 128, and use tally marks on a sheet of paper for the individual hertzes.  👍😐

Does this help?

I've run the ending of the track through Logic Pro's stem splitter to isolate the bass (it's not perfect and it hasn't managed to separate the bass guitar from the synth bass - however as it's in unison I think this serves it's purpose).

First gig I ever went to was The Stranglers at the New Theatre in Oxford in 1979, a school friend’s dad drove us there.

The sound of JJ’s bass is the reason I play bass and they have been my favourite band ever since.  Saw them live in Warwick in July and as usual, they were fantastic.

Raven tour?

I saw them on that tour in Leeds. It was amazing and I went on to see them many, many times subsequently.

I’ve not seen them more recently however, since they became ‘The Strangler’. 😉

Yes, it was the Raven tour, what an iconic image that Raven is.
I've also seen them many times over the years and still enjoy seeing them with the latest line-up

I must get along to a gig with the current line-up. I missed them at the Piece Hall in Halifax last year. A friend went and said it was excellent. Many top artists really rate it as a venue.

If they play there again I’ll definitely go.
