Strings on a budget?

The regular Harley Benton strings have never given me cause for concern, but I thought I'd try a higher grade set, purely in the interest of scientific exploration.

I think they cost me 8 quid.

These are crazy good strings for very little money.

Recommended.

If you can get hold of some cheap multipacks of D'Addario strings you can enter the code on their Player's Circle website, and in not a lot of time you'll be able to get a free set from them. They occasionally have offers on too, which is why I'm currently rocking a set of the XT series bought for the equivalent of £9.

I bought a cheap job-lot of Warwick Red nickels and, aside from being a bit rougher than I'm used to, the sodding things try to epilate my arms! I guess it's a peculiarity of the way they're wound, and the B strings are definitely the worst offenders, but the E and A have a go as well. They sound alright but they're pretty much unusable. Hopefully the HBs just let you be hairy in peace.
