They may have got away with Stairway, but given all the circumstances surrounding it, I was extremely surprised that they did. And I love Stairway, it remains my favourite Zep track.

Of course it is. But it’s listed as being written by Jimmy Page. It wasn’t.
 

FWIW, Page is referred to in my band circles as Jimmy Plaige. 😉😂

To be fair, the OP version did have to fit in many more artists, hence the 7 mins. If you measure it in mins per artist then the original doesn't seem so pithy in comparison 😉.

I don't think it got as far as court, but Led Zeppelin had to pay Willie Dixon a lot of money for Whole Lotta Love, which plagiarises his song You Need Love.
