GRETSCH Thunderjet *SOLD* pending....

I've only had this bass a few days, but having gigged it and rehearsed with it, I've decided it's not quite for me, as much as I love the thing.

Pics taken on my phone, sorry about that, my camera is playing up.

Anyway, it's only a few months old, and is almost unmarked. It's fitted with TV Jones Thundertron pickups, which are fabulous sounding, and currently fitted with brand new D'Addario Pro Steel medium scale, which is what it requires, not the short scale strings you might think it needs.

What can I say?? It's stunning, and rare, I've never seen one before. This bass was a very reasonable £1300 a few months ago, so I'm after £850, no offers, sorry.

Tradewise? Sandberg PM4 or PM5, Marcus Miller 4 or 5, Warwick Streamer Stage 1 or 2. I'll listen to other ideas though.

It comes in it's Gretsch TKL hard case, and I can deliver within reason, I'm in Manchester, sorry Cornwall or Scotland are a bit far!!

Gutted this baby didn't work out for me, and I REALLY hope someone will give this superb instrument a good home.

Brilliant mate, happy to hear it, it was a great amp that. I don't miss carrying it though ;)

Yeah I know Ray, it's really an outstanding bass, but it's wasted on me, I tend to pound seven shades of you know what out of basses. This one deserves way more respect than that. Soundwise, big thumping bottom end, and a nice clear top from the bridge pup, the TV Jones's are brilliant. I just need some more mid attack.

Dr Phibes, I'm in a covers band, RHCP, U2, Stereophonics, Muse etc.

mrcrow, I'd have had your arm off at one point, but having just moved a Stingray on, I fancied something different. It looks very very nice though.

I've always loved Gretsch basses but unfortunately my sportman like physique (darts is a sport) means that it is a tad uncomfortable.

Your right about being aggressive with them. They handle a plectrum well, thumbing and regular finger use but if you're anything like me then I know exactly what you mean. I hammer the crap out of my Warmoth but its a big solid beasty.

I'm sure the guy from Wolfmother plays something like this.

Ahh the sport of kings, I've just acquired a signed copy of Phil Taylor's autobiography, and I'm off to see the "Legends of the Oche" in a couple of weeks, Eric Bristow, John Lowe & Bobby George. That'll be a class night out.
