PRICE DROP* £1195*

Hiya, I'm new to this so please let me know if I'm breaking any rules. Relisted thanks to a time-waster..

I've had this for ages, but I don't play 4's any more so it needs to go to someone who'll appreciate it more.

For sale (no trades) is my 1988 Warwick thumb bass, 4 string.

This is the holy grail of thumb basses, from Warwick's 'golden era'. It's all original and in excellent condition.

Made in West Germany (see electronics cover), this bass has a solid bubinga body and the proper wenge and bubinga 7 piece neck. The neck shape is the skinny type, not the baseball bat of some modern warwick basses. It still has the original EMG jazz pickups and 2 band preamp - all work perfectly. Frets are original and in great shape (see pictures). Tuners are original Schaller.

Condition is remarkable for a 31 year old bass. There are a couple of scratches as you might expect, bit of buckle rash but no big dents or anything. Please see the pictures showing the edges of the bass and the various hardware etc. The only notable scratch is below the tailpiece (pictured) and some string wear on the pickups (also pictured).

Weight is 4.65kg / 10.25 lbs.

The bass is currently packaged ready to be shipped via UPS courier across the UK, or collection is welcome from Chorley in Lancashire, or from Chadderton in Greater Manchester.

Any questions, ask away.

Thanks for looking, Phil.

Gorgeous and fairly local. Sadly it’s too heavy for me. Strange as the only others from that era I’ve played have been fairly light.

Regardless, best of luck with the sale.

The Fairplay fretless series was inspired by the Pedulla Buzz series with a quite similar body and a neck through construction. Thanks to the (now) full EMG electronics, this bass is very versatile with a Jaco reminiscent sound (even if it’s a Macassar ebony neck through). Listen to the small quick made sound clip (bass direct in the Steinberg UR-RT2 sound card, Cubase Pro 10 and exported to WaveLab Pro 9.5) to hear how it sounds. This bass has been fully shielded and is dead quiet. It’s close to a Noguera Expression Plus Custom as Christian doesn’t make neck through basses these days, so you’ll get mine for half the new price…

Thanks to the Res-O-Lite tuners, it’s perfectly balanced.

The bass has been fully set up professionally by Christophe LEDUC. It has a new battery, new output jack and has been fitted with a brand-new set of D’Addario EXL165-6 nickel round wound strings (30 - 45 - 65 -85 -105 -135).

What you see is what you get !

Look at the pictures taken under different angles to see the real condition : some very few marks, due to the age, but nothing serious at all. The pickups have now real foam under them and what looks like a ding near the output jack is a wood drawing reflecting the light... The correct closest colour is the one on the 2nd to 7th photo.

Don't hesitate to ask for more.

A great semi-hollow body bass. I’m surprised that these don’t get more attention with the range of sounds this bass offers. Piezo, magnetic pickup, blend and a powerful active 3 band EQ can genuinely get it from old school to modern with ease. It’s lightweight with a broadly appealing neck profile, neither tiny nor huge.
The electronics have recently been re-soldered to ensure the bass is problem free for the foreseeable future. It comes with a hard-soft case, much like those provided with a Sadowsky.
The bass has some marks and an amount of surface scratching from the last owner, but these marks are only obvious under certain daylight lighting conditions. Sat on the wall without daylight directly on it, you’d have a hard time seeing them.

Collection, meet up or shipping all potentially available.
      Thank you for looking!
