I'm not sure if this would be of interest to anyone, but a pal of mine is selling a nearly-new (1 week old) Stagg 3/4 EDB in black.

Now I've been down the EDB route myself and it is certainly not for me, so I said that I would offer it up on the Forum.

I'm picking it up tonight as he's going to India tomorrow for Christmas. He literally got it last week and has decided that it's beyond his capabilities!! It took him ages to track one down in the first place but I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes.

It's spotless and comes with the carry bag and all original packaging.

He's looking for £285 inc postage or £270 if collected from Woking.

Thanks for looking

Pal, seriously if you don't have anything positive to add please don't bother adding anything.

I'm trying to do a mate of mine a favour. I'm sure if you had any mates yourself you'd understand.

Merry Christmas
That shop may list them cheaper but they don't actually have any in stock :) - which probably explains why Nick's mate paid over £300 from another retailer (as did I a few months ago when the dv247 site didn't have any stock then either)

Very helpful +1

Look not trying to wind anyone up... didn't want to put anything on my post as normally it gets taken the wrong way..... I spoke with DV and Zings recently as I was contemplating one of these and they have said they are having stock very shortly.... so If I upset anyone then sorry but I these are available at a lesser price....

I think YOUR comments are a bit childish but hey.... who am I to judge!

Thank you- it actually means a lot as comments on this Forum can get blown out of proportion very quickly.

I said I'd try and sell it for a mate of mine for what he paid for it. I guess you can get it cheaper but it comes down to the old addage "A bird in the hand..."

Anyway, it's a lovely bass and if I wasn't so inept I'd keep it myself.

I checked out both retailers earlier this summer - Zings told me "we will get in stock shortly" then and as far as I can tell didn't have any several months later (as they kept sending me emails to that effect) ...

According to your definition EDBs were 'available' then at a lesser price ... only I couldn't actualy buy one at that price.

Thats why I ended up paying over £300 fromanother retailer because it was a case of 'how long is a piece of string'

Just to say that I have one of these (bought from a fellow BC) and they are superb. If anyone is thinking about trying electric double bass then I can highly recommend this EDB. They are amazing value. My only comment is I think the price may be a little steep and may struggle to sell for £300 despite them being hard to find. Like you say though, if someone is willing to pay for it then good on them.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks mate. Maybe you're right on the price. I'd do it for £285 inc postage or £270 picked up. This really is as new

No problem. I think that a much more realistic deal and somebody should snap that up. They would be foolish not to. I have put a heads up to this sale in the Stagg thread in the double bass forum. Hope that helps.

Ah, the old Ford Escort driver's door scrap yard conversation:

"How much are your Stagg EUB's, mate?"

"£300"

"£300? they're £250 down the road"

"Does he have any?"

"Well No, but they are due in at any time"

"Well, when I don't have any mine are £250 are too"

Sounds pretty sweet! Lets hope these start appearing in music shops soon - would love to try one.
